hd3 Posted April 20 Share Posted April 20 I've noticed the Japan, American and Australian Warhammer sites lately all have an 'temporarily out of stock' sign on not just the alpha legion upgrades I want but even the age of darkness box. If it were just the upgrades I wouldn’t think it was anything of note but the starter set has always been in stock as far as I can remember. You could be right, they may have pulled it in preparation for the new edition launch box as a summer release would be roughly 3 months away at this point which seems like a sensible window to stop people buying a rulebook that will become outdated. That's a shame because I really wanted that set for it's value in both 30k/40k. Should I try to grab it now off ebay then? Or wait to see what the new starter box has? I think the new set is unlikely to have a Spartan in it or Cataphractii terminators and the rumours seem to be it will be a different mark of armour so it definitely won’t be mk6 beakies. So if they’re what you want it probably is worth trying to find a box because it is good value. However, the new box will undoubtedly have a lot of infantry, probably some terminators of some sort as well as a dread and maybe another vehicle. Plus if they follow the pattern of the mk3 armour the new infantry will still be compatible with the various weapon upgrades. So I think it’ll still be a good value box with a similar but not identical composition of models, just newer versions. So unless you particularly want mk6 and the spartan then I’d probably wait as the new one will also have to new rulebook in it. Plus a guy at my club is selling some mkvi marines he doesn't want. Possible that it's due to 3rd but I wouldn't read too much into it. I would certainly never underestimate just how bad and inconsistent the website is. In that case I would say it’s probably not worth searching out the box unless you can find it at a discount. I’d probably just get those things separately. In fact I’d probably only buy the Spartan. The new box is pretty much guaranteed to have a HQ model and you may like him more than the sword praetor, same goes for the dread. And even if it doesn’t have those models you can always buy them separately then. There are so many from the AoD box set people didn’t use on EBay. Some have the instructions but you can find them online anyway.
