Chaos Lord in Terminator armor or Sorcerer in Terminator armor to lead a Terminator squad?

Subject line says it all. I have one 5 man chaos terminator squad. The Chaos Lord in Terminator armor kit arrives tomorrow. Which should I build? I have no other characters in terminator armor to lead them except for Abaddon.

Thanks.

Neither are bad choices - Lord is a better melee beatstick, is more consistently resilient (for if/when he's the last one of the squad left) and gets them a stratagem for -1 CP per turn (though, this is once per turn across all your lords, so loses some value if a bunch of lords all want to use the ability in a given turn).

Sorcerer is shootier, makes an enemy unit easier to hurt (by improving AP against them), gets a 1/battle "takes no damage" ability and rerolls charges and advance roles.

Personally, the termie sorcerer edges out the lord as he just does more for a cheaper cost, and although the lord does hit harder in melee, the reroll charges helping them get there is probably more valuable, at least out of deepstrike.  Lord is definitely more valuable than the sorceror if their squads die, though neither are likely to be around long if that does occur.  Lord also increases in value if you have any particular stratagems you want to consistently use on the squad, as he could save you a few CP over the game if there are.

Thanks for that.

I do have now a squad of 10 Chosen, and a Chaos Lord in regular power armor that will most likely accompany them. So it sounds like doing a Sorcerer in terminator armor will be more useful to the collection versus doing the chaos lord in terminator armor (which I actually love and I know he hits hard!!). But that re-roll to charge is just so good for that unit, along with the other things you mentioned.

How do you prefer to gear your Chaos Lord on foot in power armor? Because my main collection is Dark Angels I also must get Cypher to run with the Black Legion from time to time ;) Mandatory lol

All my lords are older models, with the most recent being the thunderhammer/plasma pistol lord from Blackstone Fortress.  So I field him.  Don't feel particularly strongly about any of the loadouts, though I do wish you could take a fist and plasma and not have the fist locked to another melee weapon... but mostly because that invalidates one of my old lord models (fortunately, one of my crappier paint jobs).

I'm building a Slaaneshi Cypher stand-in for my own CSM force - it will be a 3x pistol Lord Exultant in my EC force (for the LOLs, mostly), but built and painted in such a way as I can port him over to field in my CSM as Cypher as well.  I'll post a photo of him in my personal thread once his head arrives and he's completely assembled.  Don't really have any opinion on how good he'll actually be, so be sure to share your experience with him on the table here after you field him.

If you're planning to deep strike, take the Sorcerer.  The rerolls for charges saves you a CP on the drop if you're trying to get a charge off.

Another question, did the Chaos Lord in Terminator armor kit recently get a re-size? As in the model stayed looking the same they just made a more recent version that is larger than the original?

I have no chaos land raider at the moment, and probably won't have one for a while, so I think you make an outstanding point! Thanks.

Honestly, the Land Raider is a terrible transport for Terminators. I'd avoid.

You also are less reliant on the reroll charges from the Sorcerer if you're doing Rapid Ingress. The key component is that sweet AP bonus. That's usually much greater in value than any Strat the Lord would give you for free.

Another CSM question: Can you use the old Greater Possessed models that came in pairs, as a 5 man squad of possessed if you have 5 of them? I have four and I'm considering getting a single one to round them out to five, and run them as standard Possessed? Thanks.

Cpt.Danjou is very much correct.  Their compatability came up recently in this thread, where you can see a picture of my models besides each other - the greater possessed and the new possessed are pretty much identical in size and look great together - or, as you suggest, there is no problem in just using the GP models by themselves.

No its the same plastic kit thats been out for yonks and is starting to really show its age. My termys are a mix of different ones and its really only the cape and tactical rock that hold him above

It was an irritating model to build. Not hard, but just annoying, and the kit isn't designed very well imo. But then I've been spoiled by oodles of primaris marine kits over the years, even the firstborn stuff was decent.
