Guard usually have full leather boots rather than any armour and it looks too sci-fi to be anything for Sigmar. Seen a few people now mention it looks segmented like Tau armour.

Gue'vesa Kill Team maybe?

My first thought was something Tau, but it doesn't seem to be a complete match

Looks like Servitor feet, wasn't there a rumor pic of a mechanical hand holding a toolbox? I'm betting it's the same model, maybe a new Engineseer with Servitors for the IG.

Well I can tell you you already lost that bet, as that toolbox rumor engine has been revealed already ( it was part of the servitor kill team ;) so its a half loss )

The "Color" reminds me of another old rumor engine though

Not that it really helps

Something about the new RE made me immediately think about UR-025 but it doesnt fit at all.

Its definitely not Necromunda btw... Necromunda has a different basing philosophy.

I thought tau but it's clearly a boot not a hoof, I wonder if the comment about "whose hoof is it?" Is also a clue. Some sort of tau auxiliary unit including humans?

Who are you kidding ? it will be ONLY humans

While Tau and Kill team combined have the oppurtunity to bring some really fresh material into the setting, Gue'vesa is long desired by tau fans ( or is it imperium fans who just want more conversion fodder ? Im honestly not sure) and they do love their GEQ in kill team.

Though I must say, the new rumor engine and the old one keeps me thinking of what I think would be an interesting MOI kill team. Think independent robots that wear "clothing" and that undecipherable object is an "elders" staff made from scraps ( but not orky scraps).. kind of like rebel moons robot.

Bonus points if they are linked to UR-025 and his mission, and his name was always an hint of what year they would release. ( extremely unlikely to the point of impossibility, not in the least because KT didnt even have this form back then.)

Doesn't seem Votann to me, not wide and chunky enough and lacking the details they tend to have with their bionics - mainly the toes, and the ball joint. Does seem slightly high-tech and sophisticated but any in any obvious way, just seems like something that isn't Imperial.

I wouldn't take the mention of "hoof" as an indication of anything though, as the text for these tends to be pretty meaningless and isn't a clue.

Not the reason people think Tau afaik ( not me at least, but I think the same goes for the others.).. rather that the gaits (?) are a very Tau thing, despite the foot being not tau. Yet the segmented approach does fit tau..

I only read the hoof part after I saw others (and joined in) speculating it could be Tau, but indeed, the few times the text fit the RE final owner it was pure coincedence or a logical link based on the RE itself.

If it is Tau I expect it would also be a Kill Team. It doesn't looks like the white Tau are currently marketed with but I could see them going with a different theme for a Kill Team like how the Scouts were painted up as Ravenguard or the Votann as Trans Hyperian Alliance (though I could kind of see GW switching to this as the default for Votann).

Edit: But then the Vespids were marketed with the white scheme too so who knows.

There's a tendency for the Killteam Painters to choose a Black or Orange subfaction colour in more recent teams' official paint scheme.
This is notable with the Vespids who were previously always Blue since the only official paint scheme for them was that of the T'au Sept with Blue Chitin and Orange "T'au Bits".
If this is Gue'vessa, then to keep with the "Black or Orange" theme they could be painted up in the T'au Sept colours which has Orange(ish) Armour and Gear with White detailing (note that GW do still use the T'au Sept for some models even after pivoting the main Colour Scheme to Vior'la, notably Shadowsun).

No there isnt, they (orange) just happen to catch the eye more and therefore become more memorable than other colorschemes, combined with the dominant colors of kill team presentation being orange and black adding to this feeling. There is a notable lack of yellows and reds though ( especially compared by 40k usually.) and most schemes are cold and desaturated.. making the 4 (of 35!) dominantly orange teams stand out even more. ( and out of these 4, 2 are from the same faction and a third one has been more orangy inclined in the past as well.)

Its even hard to make good measures if its standard practice to paint Kill Teams more usually as divergent paintschemes from the main studio paintjob as KT has had so many kill teams where it doesnt apply, things like Mandrakes, Ratlings, Brood brothers etc. never followed the standard army paintjob.. whereas things like Corsairs, Arbites and Krieg are the firsts of their (potential) range so they define the paintscheme. As a quick guess I would say there are as many that follow as there are those that diverge from the standard paintscheme.

I really think its a wildcard situation, and nothing like past incarnations of Kill team where it was standard practice that Kill teams had an off-brand paintscheme.

Do agree with the rest though, just not that Orange is a go to choice of them ( GW ), though I do understand why it feels like that.

I am wondering if it actually could be Votann after all. It not seeming thick enough could just be the angle of the photo. While it doesn't entirely match a specific design for any of their bionic feet entirely, it might not be quite how it seems; I thought it was just a bionic foot here, with a smooth design which doesn't match theres - theirs have toes.

But It could be a Votann bionic foot, with a covering. What makes me think Votann is that it's generally the same style as theirs are, the 3 segments /grooves are in the same location as theirs have, and it's interesting that is has the curve around the ankle in the same location as the ball joint on the Votann bionic. Not only that, but the ironkin assistant has a covering on it, with 2 similar button-things attaching it:
