The books I think we knew were already coming, but the character encyclopaedia now comes with a miniature (presumably in the same way that DK Lego books come with minifigures, embedded in the cover). So who is it going to be?

The books £25, so it’s unlikely to be a casual Lion, but assuming it’s a space marine (because it’s very likely to be a space marine) there a lot of £20+ characters to choose from!

Maybe one of the now OOP chapter lieutenants? I would assume the Hachette Conquest or Imperium minis would be off the table. Or something exclusive(?), though that seems unlikely.

Edit: oh, I've just noticed the Artbook comes now comes with some free game codes, for those interested.

So thats what the lady malys sprue is for :laugh:

More seriously

Id presume its going to be both a spacemarine and a pushfit model thats pre existing.. Titus springs to mind.

But most of all Id expect it to be pushfit.

edit :

Upon looking it seems to be always exclusives to the DK book ?

I would expect the same. It'd be nice if it was something exciting but I would expect it is most likely going to be a basic marine. Possibly the instore Infernus marine

A nostalgic option would be a second edition style/posed 'tactical' / interecessor marine. I don't really expect anything amazing though.

Edit: i missed that it actually says it will be a character covered in the book vs just a miniature. That doesn't preclude that they wont just name a generic marine and include a sprue but it might mean it is something a little more interesting

I think it would be a bit strange to have just a generic Space Marine miniature for a book that's meant to be a character guide, implying named characters.

I can't see them giving away a current available and usually expensive miniature, either.

"Copies will also come with a free miniature of one of the characters covered in it, but you’ll have to wait and see exactly who."

I would think it would be a Char. mini, unless they make a character out of the basic marine.

id get the game art one, are these being sold via GW or just via book shops too?

Bookshops it's looking like.

Go through the links and the DK website (at least for character book) has the preorders from:

Amazon (currently £23)

Bookshop.org

Easons

Hive

Waterstones

WH Smith

Was considering getting the character one anyway, as I got the Encyclopedia that came out last year (it was around my birthday after all) and it's pretty cool.

I'm also assuming, if it's not a funky embedded in cover/book, it'll be a code/voucher with the book to claim the free miniature as adding a physical figure/sprue to the book would make the book shops lives a heck of a lot more irritating to deal with when handling over just a book.

Surely the character that comes free with a book should be a Librarian.

I know one better

Trazyn ! if there is anyone who will objectively talk about every character in the galaxy ( except himself or onrikan), its him.

But yes, it would be an inuniverse perfect thing to have a Librarian..

Ezekiel didnt got his miniature yet... the plot thickens :laugh:

I'd be tempted to say Tigurius given the appropriateness of the Librarian theme, but he's not push-fit and like previous posters, I'd be shocked if it isn't a push-fit model.

Given that they just made Titus available through the web store, he has to be the leading candidate. They probably did a new production run for the books and included a substantial overage in case of defects. Then they made the overage available to purchase before announcing the book to make sure they could wring a few nickels out of people by double-dipping on those who'd otherwise just wait for the book. Likely also why they held off on actually identifying the mini in question during the book reveal.

Somewhere, the Grand Nagus is smiling.

Imagine if this is how Trazyn gets his model refresh and it comes in the form of a Push-Fit Mini tied to a book

A Half price Trazyn with a free book ? sounds like a win. ( at least, I assume the book isnt LE nothing seems to indicate it )

The downsides of pushfit dont really apply for a named character anyway.

Part of me pretty heavily presumes the miniature will be Titus, given how popular he is and how his model is a push-fit.

Would be nice if it's a unique refreshed model for someone covered in the book, though. I vaguely recall the DK Lego books usually having a unique minifigure you couldn't get elsewhere.

I googled and seen dozens of them, the extra seems to be always exclusive. ( they are also rarely the most expected "poster character" ) Honestly, Trazyn and Ezekiel I was more tongue in cheek about before arent even that unrealistic contenders. Or pedro kantor ? Though an alt pushfit for an already available character isnt unlikely either, or even a character that doesnt (and wont) have rules except for maybe legends. ( after all GW has been stingy with official rules even with something available from their own store : Blackstone fortress and the Gellerpox for Kill team.)

I wonder if this one would have popped up in the rumorverse.. Valrak was convinced of a Blood angels Terminator character wasnt he ? Could be a new Karlaen

In the end there arent that many possibilities, would be weird to just pull one out of their hat.

But I do think it being exclusive might be a strong possibility, as I think it might not be a thing GW has a say in when making the agreement.

If it's always exclusive then it won't be a big name character because they won't want it to be gated behind the book release.

My guess is they've invented some new primaris special character lieutenant or captain and written a brief entry for him in the book, and his loadout is normal enough that he works as a proxy for a regular lieutenant or captain from the codex.
