Plastic appears to be the softer one found in many of the snap-fit models (I used a whole ton of them to convert them into Night Lords in the past, you definitely feel they cut easier when you cut them apart for conversions). But apparently I had been lucky and the model was fine (I however find the design of this book, with the integrated box for the model, atrocious).
