Call to Arms is returning for 2025!!  I’ll be running it for @Grotsmasha this year, but otherwise it’s going to be mostly the same as in 2023 and 2024.

One big change is that the loyalist Astartes will have their own Stronghold this year, split off from the other Imperial forces.  This better aligns it with the current B&C forum structure and better evens out the number of participants between factions, as previously the broader Imperium faction had roughly double the participants of the other factions.

WHEN: 15th June to 15th September 2025

The Stronghold threads will be posted and locked for two weeks prior to the Event to allow everyone to familiarize themselves with the rules and points value for the Event.

WHERE: Work in Progress Forum in the Forge

The Strongholds will once again be located in the WIP Forum in the Forge. Rally Points will be located in each Forum for Faction and will contain Faction specific points values, and may act as hub for strategizing and organizing the Forums efforts with a Stronghold.

WHAT: For those who didn't participate previously, each model is assigned a points value, based on it's size, complexity, and time it takes to paint (generally).  For example, a Primaris Intercessor is worth 1 point, but a similarly sized Primaris Captain is worth 5 points, this is because typically the Captain will have more detail, and generally be painted to a higher standard, taking more time.

Models MUST be pledged to their Stronghold, designated by the Forum's location within the B&C's structure, Imperium, Chaos, Xenos, Heresy and this year, Astartes will gain it's own Stronghold rather than contributing to the Imperium Stronghold as previously.

You may participate in as many of the Strongholds as you wish, having 4 Vows per Stronghold, 3 Vows that must be completed sequentially, with them counting as all or nothing, and one Jobs' A Bigg'un Vow, this is for models worth 10+ points that are outside of the 3 normal vows as they may take the entire event to complete. This means you will have a total of 20 Vows available to you.  Any models that fall outside of the Strongholds, such as Necromunda, Blackstone Fortress, terrain, etc, may be pledged to ANY Stronghold.

For the duration of the Event, the Strongholds are competing amongst the Rally Points to pledge and complete the most points worth of models, with Badges and bragging rights going to the Victors.

Once the Event has concluded, the Stronghold will be measured against one another, for fancier badges, and ultimate bragging rights. Previously there were also a small selection of physical prizes, at this stage, prizes ARE NOT locked in for this year, BUT there is potential this may change, no promises, however.

Here ae the four Strongholds from the 2024 Event for you to peruse to get a better idea of how it all works.

IMPERIUM  |  CHAOS  |  XENOS |  HERESY

The comeback of this great event for the 3rd consecutive year is really a good news. I can't wait it to start...

Yet it means that my whole painting plan shall be reworked in order to present a consistant enough amount of models in a single stronghold.

Will it be Imperium like 2 years ago or Xenos like in the 2024 Ed. ?

.... Sound of my brain trying to developp a seed of strategic thinking, or pretending taking some strategic decisions ...

Ooh nice. I will get involved again this year. Whether I pledge a similar amount I have done for the previous 2 years is yet to be seen. I do have a substantial grey pile, but it's not really coherent to a particular faction. I do have a black shields force idea I want to try though.....

Dam you Wormwoods for pointing me back at this, I mean not actually because this was great for getting crons done last year. Likely going to use this to push my self to do my chaos knights

Thanks for picking this up @Dr_Ruminahui, it is a great challenge but I'm sure it is no mean feat to administer!

I'm looking forward to taking part this year, even if it is in a small way. I've got some Orks I'd like to pledge and, if there is time, maybe so Astartes or even Nids.

Looking forward to another run! Now, to wonder if I attempt for the Grand Marshall again...

EDIT: After tallying the points and careful consideration I have decided I am not psychotic and won't try to start and finish a word bearers army on top of finishing my mechanicum, entirely within 3 months. Alas, only 213 points .

IIRC the most amount of prep we can do is the priming stage?

That is correct.  That said, if you are doing things in subassemblies, you can have different assemblies primed different colours.

There is no rules restriction to making vows in different strongholds, so you don't have to restrict yourself to a single faction if you don't want to.  This means that, if you maxed out your vows, you could make 20 vows across all the factions (3 regular + 1 "Job's a big one" vows per faction x 5 factions).

Did last year's start in mid June?

It did.  First year started at the beginning of the month, then it was shifted last year for reasons I don't recall.  So, I've just kept it the same as last time.

I am a man of one love... Or monomaniac. I wish I can compete for a badge trying out to max one faction as both my hobby time and space have been seriously reduced. ATM I however have only up to 40 pts available either in the xenos or imperium factions. It is a pat...

Heck yes! My backlog this year is smaller than it was, but may well balloon to smash some of the new Heresy stuff into my Sallies.

Tentative first xenos pledges:

5 Warp Spiders

3 River Trolls (Drukhari Grotesques > these were a big fave from my youth and I just had to get them when they hit made to order. I will 100% use them as Grotesques though.)

Chaos:

1 Dragon Ogre (skullcrusher - a random metal guy I bought years ago who'll be used as the third in a unit since I converted my Invocatus from 1 of the 3 in the original unit)

1 Mierce Miniatures Ammon (Skarbrand)

Astartes:

Undefined Salamanders?

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.
