I got all my airbrushing done early on, but the edge highlighting has been a disaster in this heat. It feels like I am slathering mud on my models with a trowel, even using a wet palette. I hope the weather cools down soon, it's been unbearable and I've not picked up my brush for about 3 days. I need to regain my momentum but I don't want horrible, chalky highlights. Is there something else you could work on, besides highlighting? Maybe a quick vow of some terrain in another stronghold? The weather should be perfect for drybrushing… Magos Takatus 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385849-event-call-to-arms-2025/page/4/#findComment-6117790 Share on other sites

Maybe a quick vow of some terrain in another stronghold? The weather should be perfect for drybrushing… I need to do some layering with the Swooping Hawks if I'm honest. I've spent most of the last few days just sitting down groaning at the inhumanity of such heat and humidity. I'm a delicate creature, the flesh definitely is weak in my case. I could have moved to blocking in other colours on the scorpions, too. The weather is a lot more manageable today so I should really get back on target. I also seem to be ruining brushes at an incredible rate currently. I always used to be very meticulous about making sure I don't get too much paint on my brushes but currently I my brushes don't last long at all before they lose their point. I'm not sure if the moisture from my wet palette is wicking up into the ferrule or I need to change the water more often but I am a pretty experienced painter so why I'm ruining brushes so quickly now is confusing me somewhat. It does make edge highlighting a bit of a chore when your brushes have two points most of the time. Maybe I'm being rougher with the brushes than I used to, or using soap less often? I'm mystified at this point. Anyway, I think I'll have a short nap and start painting. I was dumb enough to stay up really late last night and I'm paying for it now. sitnam and Antarius 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385849-event-call-to-arms-2025/page/4/#findComment-6117818 Share on other sites
Agnostic Doggo
So today being the 15th and me being behind i feel compelled to ask, what time zone is the deadline measured in? Its the 13th today. While I'm here though, I know I've failed this year miserably. The desire and will to paint up and left me early on due to other factors Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385849-event-call-to-arms-2025/page/4/#findComment-6131890 Share on other sites

Agnostic Doggo
For those like me looking at the clock. Dr Ruminahui threw up 48 hours left notices in the strongholds. You can do math to figure when then means for you locally. Looks like Tuesday 6pm local time for me if i've done the math right. Which given work means, Monday night =P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/385849-event-call-to-arms-2025/page/4/#findComment-6131965 Share on other sites
ThePenitentOne
I finished last night. It's the first challenge I've finished in a long time, and the first Call to Arms I ever finished. Not only that, my skill level really came up by the time I got to the end- I'm still nowhere near as good as some of the fraters, but I exceeded my own expectations. Dr_Ruminahui
My 48 hour mark might have been a bit off, so for clarification the event ends at midnight Pacific Time (so, the west coast of North America) on the 15th - on the time zone map what's referred to as "UTC -7". Glad to hear about both your completion and your skill level up, @ThePenitentOne - be sure to post your completion in the appropriate stronghold, if you haven't already. Jhadzaan
Completely forgot about this event and only remembered because I set a calendar reminder that just went off for the end date. Too much of life getting real this summer to deal with anything 40k related. Oh well. Congrats to all those who did finish!
