First of all, thanks for all the great comments. I appreciate all the support. I’m gonna share a picture with you now.
I made decals for these guys. I don’t know if I use the wrong paper or did it wrong but I’m pretty good with putting decals on space marines but this decal killed me. Yes they are homemade.

Now I have already ripped it off. I’m going to try to just paint the Firehawk insignia on his shoulder pad free hand. Everybody, please say a prayer.

Plus, if anybody has had major success with doing your own decals, please share a recipe as there is no way, I am going to do an army of these guys and paint their shoulder pads, free hand! Also, if somebody knows a good company that does make decals I will pay lol

do you glue hands together beforehand you paint them? how you fit them to body afterward? or am i wrong?

Yes, I did a mock up on the models to make sure I had the hands in the guns correct that way after I paint the model I can put them all together

Hey, it's me again and I have a question. How you choose light direction(your orange/yellow highlight placement) ? Or you just highlights all around?

If you look at this pic closely you will see parts of his armor that are visibly brighter than other parts

Use your table top light view your mini under it. You are trying to copy that.

It won’t let me add a blowup picture but if you look at my guy that just has his arms painted blow it up a little bit and you’ll see parts of his armor that has a brighter, gray and darker gray, emphasizing that the light is above your marine or figure

Great, consistent progress. I'm liking everything here - from the shading, through the excellent edge highlights, to the freehand. Bravo! I also admire you painting sub-assemblies - that's the way to go for maximum effect. Personally, I despite it (almost as much as using magnets) so I particularly appreciate when others go about doing things properly.
