So the leak was true after all. Definitely a bit strange that it's edited art.

Looks alright but I don't even think any of the boardgames have been sold here in the UK.  Just a shame really.

If nothing else it will function as a relatively cheap way to get hold of the Bladeguard Ancient and Chaplain model (for those in countries it releases in, that is)

Several of the Space Marine Adventures games and the Darktide game were available through Game in the UK, but others (Combat Arena, Blitz Bowl etc) were limited to USA and Germany. Who knows which one this will be.

Didn't the leak show the whole sprue with three Blade Guard and three Eradicators? If the whole sprue is in there, then it could be a very cheap way to get those minis.

Or would it be possible to just package four of the miniatures?

GW have recut individual minis onto smaller sprues before (The Ministorum Priest, Priest with Vindicator, Navigator all originally appeared on a single sprue in Blackstone Fortress, while the Primaris Psyker and Technoarchaeologist both originated on a single sprue in a Combat Arena boxed game) so it's not implausible that they've done a sprue with just four minis on it. But there could also be more player character cards in the box for the other models.

Honestly, my thinking about the edited art is that it's a cheap introductory boxed game, so they don't really want/need to put too many resources into, so have one of the junior artists edit a picture for the box art rather than anything new from scratch. It's also familiar enough to those not entirely withint the hobby to maybe take a second glance.

It does the job, and if reusing existing frames works for big animation, then it's good enough for GW:laugh:

That's my thinking anyway

People acting like GW never edited existing art before:

Yeah, and I think in this instance it stands out more because the original seemed to be everywhere at one point, so we all recognise it as an existing piece, and know something is 'different'.

In a way, from a certain point of view* this is a marketing win, as anybody who has seen the original image it will stand out more in a "because it's wrong" kind of way
