Custodes range refresh/new range

HH preview animations usually lead to minis for everything in them. It had Valdor and Cole. The ToE book is not released at the same time as all the rest. The last preview was a guardian spear for a new plastic model. 
 

I’m pretty damn sure there’s going to be a big plastic release for Custodes that coincides with their new Liber book.

I'm very interested to see what happens in regards to the Sisters more than the Custodes. They had a slew of units designed for 2.0 that never had model releases like the pursuers, so we'll either see them get a huge range this edition or... yeah, let's just hope for the models. Sisters on Jetbikes and cyber-raptors are going to go so hard if we end up finally getting them.

Given GW's policy of not wanting the same models in 40k and 30k, this is probably a character to be released along the new Talons of the Emperor rules. Maybe an updated Valdor or more probably a named female Custodes.

There's what looks like a pretty normal guardian Spear in the HH preview's upcoming teasers and Custodes is one of the armies in 40k/30k that do still share units even after GW's grand pivot to not doing that.

 

I think that we just get properly updated and scaled Custodes in HH and then those models get reboxed for the 40k army after a while (or it's a reverse Tzaangor situation where the sprue is the same between games but the HH Custodes have an Upgrade sprue that gives them extra stuff the 40k ones don't.

Given the appearance of existed custodes models, 40K players would certainly buy that/these model and use/convert them for 40K, since it won't have completely different size and style(e.g. 30K Admech to 40K Admech).

I think they will get some more stuff in plastic but i don't think it's going to be a whole new range. I just hope it can be used in 40k...

Maybe they'll fully embrace the supposed duality of custodes and sisters fighting side by side, have a whacky kit à la crusader squads with half being bananas and half being topknots.

Just to put the most unlikely scenario out there.

Honestly this would be a more interesting direction than they have currently which is just "more elite Marines" wrt to their range and the way they work. 

 

I'm always a fan of more distinct play styles and mixed units like that could be cool as hell.

I think they will re-do Custodes to be the same size as the Saturine suits.

 

I could well be victim of GW’s relentless hero-scale-creep but I always felt Custodes were supposed to be as big as these Saturine models. Is that not the case?

 

 also not a fan of the SOS sculpts. The more recent plastic Marines and Mech are really well done. I would love to see SoS get a similar glow up, along with more unit options and kits.

Life hack: Just buy a 2000p army worth of JoyToy miniatures, and you will be ready when GW scale creep catches up to them

That would be a bit odd.  Custodes are meant to be a bit taller than a Marine side by side in armour, but the Saturnine suits are clearly massive and massively bulked up past the marine wearers head height by the massive shoulder pads.

 

You’d have Custodes approaching primarch size then.

Sure. I take your point but I could see the Custodes Terminator armour being re-done to be of a similar size to the Saturine.

Plastic custodes tanks seem a sure thing. The player based would detonate if they were removed from 40k though, so some kind of division might be in the pipeline.

Why? The Aquilon Terminators are already huge. They might be even slightly bulkier than the current Indomitus ones.

Yeah aquilons are already chonky, even based on 50mm.

if they made them all the size of Aquilons that would be good enough I think. I do think the basic troops should be a little larger / taller than primaris since they are in lore but I don't know that they are going to redo them. i could see them scaling up going forward though

Imo bringing them in line with some of the stormcast sculpts would unironically suit the power armoured ones. That way they'd be reasonably tall, but would also be lean in a way that arguably fits their "warrior not soldier" vibe.

Added to that, since auramite armour is supposed to be massively sophisticated in design and performance they can also afford to make the overall design less chunky when not in terminator suits.
