A little bit of progress this weekend, having finished this guy. Not my best work, but now that I've put him together he seems ok:

@sitnam - I had, and its now added.  Sorry about that - think its the first vow I've missed in the event.

@WBRBloom, I think you did a good job - any faults with the model are with its very dated sculpt, not the paint job.

Edited by Dr_Ruminahui

Thanks @Dr_Ruminahui, he is dated. And the fact that I got him used, and I could not disassemble much of the model (some parts did came off when I stripped the paint off of him, but not all), did not help either.

But hey-ho, I got a lord in terminator armour to field now :D

"I, Antarius, heed the Call to Arms and pledge to paint 40 Plaguebearers, 3 Beasts of Nurgle, 4 Heralds and a Daemon Prince for a total of 71 points, for the Glory of Father Nurgle (and his Daemons) and the Chaos Stronghold on or before 15th September 2025, or bear the badge of failure until year's end."image.thumb.jpeg.32aefbb8009778704a6d3a9656a3d1d4.jpeg

(I couldn't find Beasts of Nurgle in the list, but I assume they're two points each)

Posted (edited)

Beasts of Nurgle were were either 2 or 5 points last year (in one vow they got 2 points, in another 5 - to me, the 5 definitely seems in error), so 2 seems fine.  That said, they do seem pretty big - are they box dread or sentinel sized?  If so, we could make them 3 each.

I'd say they are about Dread size, maybe a bit shorter and bulkier, but probably the same mass - the bases are 60mm bases if that's any help in evaluating them.

Ha, it's been a while . Between vacations and and 30k drama, been away for a bit, but I've been working away. I'm almost done with my chaos vow - the 20 possessed and master of Possession all have the actual minis painted, and I've started the basing, starting with the character The two extra possessed I'm waiting on some paints for, but all in all hoping to wrap up this vow by Friday.20250803_191640.thumb.jpg.13d76e00c04b94b6004c50d777893bc5.jpg20250804_225441.thumb.jpg.268ca13888617fd4cedda8fd41730605.jpg20250804_225526.thumb.jpg.723b1eea899a6dbe7bdab8f2ceb09ec1.jpg

I, Boc, heed the Call to Arms and pledge to paint one Knight Lancer, one Knight Despoiler, one Knight Abhorrent (not sure yet what I'm building it as), 4 war dogs, 18 noise Marines, 10 infractors/tormentors, 6 flawless blades, and one Lord Exultant for 85 points for the Glory of the Realm of Chaos and the Chaos Knights on or before 15th September 2025, or bear the badge of failure until year's end.

So this is awkward

Apparently noise marines are sprue sets of 3 and not 2... so I've only got 12 of them now that I've got them assembled

@Antarius - after seeing a comparison photo, I think the Beasts are properly 3 points each.  I've amended the points list accordingly, and will point your vow appropriately when I update the summary post.

@Boc - I've messaged you about possible solutions to your noise shortage.

@Cryptix - your guys are looking great.  Very malevolent.

@Cryptix Is that an Angels Resplendent transfer or free hand? Very neat either way. The MoP is a great kit ash, and your lava base came out great.

Huh, so it is. I didn't realize the decals were from a Canon chapter, I just used them because I thought they looked cool and angel theming felt like it fit the word bearers. Since these guys are also doubling as a heresy army I'll just chalk it up to the post heresy administratum mistaking it for an old terran symbol for use on a space marine chapter :whistling:. Although looking at their history on lexicanum, there is some bitter irony there...

In the meantime, got the rest of the standard possessed based! Got something special in mind for the last two, but almost done.

@Cryptix Those possessed look great with their bases. I definitely recommend looking into the Fehervari works including the Angels Resplendent, some of the best 40k writing

@Boc Fantastic job, the white and purple scheme really works

Very nice Emperor’s Children and Word Bearers, guys. Death to the false emperor!

I am happy to report that my Nurgle vow is coming along nicely and I hope to finish it this week. Also hoping for a great and productive week for all my fellow evildoers - this is the last week before we’re entering the home stretch, so let’s keep up the good (evil) work and may your brushes bristle with undying hatred!

A little bit of progress and some equipment upgrade. Finished the wizard and I'm halfway there with the predator, but I also got a tripod and used it with the photbox.

There is a learning curve here, which I will need to master:

Everyone's pledges are coming along wonderfully. Go Chaos!

I'd like to make my 2nd pledge....

"I, Tallarn Commander, heed the Call to Arms and pledge to paint 1 Counts-As Defiler, Yemelina's Lament, for 6 pts for the Glory of the Realm of Chaos and the Chaos Stronghold on or before September 15th, or bear the badge of failure until year's end."

Dr. Ruminahui, I'd like to submit Yemelina's Lament as a possible "Master of the Forge." Kits included in this kitbash include a Defiler, a Rogal Dorn, a Slaaneshi chariot, an AoS vampire, and an IG sentinel.

Yemelina's Lament is not powered by a daemon. It is crewed by Traitor Guard and its 5++ comes from Yemelina. Yemelina is a Psyker who is forced to use her hexes and psychic energies to ward the craft.

More photos...

Spoiler

I will paint Yemelina's Lament in sub-assemblies. So the various components are held in place in these photos by gravity (and 31 magnets).

Since the model is not fully assembled, in this photo you can see the Yemelina's Lament being held up on each side by my other 2 Defilers, Blood Golem and Deffy.

These two and their cupola will be magnetized to the front of the vehicle.

These two crew members will be positioned in the rotatable turret ring in the bowels of the vehicle. They will be visible when I remove a magnetized panel on the side of the vehicle.

I still need to add a lot of rivets, some greenstuff power cabling here and there, an LED on the inside, and some armor panels on the top of the hull. And, of course, I need to paint it.

Enjoy the pics!

Nostroman 9th. "Hell's Horde"

Reporting Page updated - please review to ensure your entry is correct (subfaction, link, models vowed, point value, entry into Master of the Forge).

For the purposes of transparency, I would like to explain that I have let Boc substitute his 6 over-counted noise marines with 2 lord kakaphonists without altering his vowed points - for a fun event, I don't think its appropriate to force him to fill the shortfall in noise marines with new purchases, and this seemed like the fairest way of resolving the matter with the models he has.

Speaking of... they're done

Noise marines are still a couple days out, decals tomorrow, washes tomorrow night, hopefully finish by Friday.

I've got the 4 war dogs assembled, magnetized, and ready to start priming as soon as the decals go on the NMs.

Awesome to see everyone's vows coming along! I'd been quietly chipping away at mine for a bit but ran into motivation issues and then some family stuff but today I knocked out the rest so I am calling my vow COMPLETE. I may do the runic lettering at a later point but I'm going to look around for some feedback before committing to anything. Will grab some more pics when I can get a better lighting situation.

Maybe these should start being Saturday updates... I'm on a field trip tomorrow so here's another early post!

You know how GW plastics all fit together quite well these days? I got out of sub-assemblies and MIGHT have been okay with this:

But definitely not this!

An hour of sculpting later and:

Before patching the paint:

large.Skar_GapWIP3_C2A25.jpg.ec7f7ff2152

It's not amazing work, but considering it was a whole 1.5mm gap or so, I feel okay about it and he's starting to look pretty fierce, if I do say so:

large.Skar_WIP_C2A25.jpeg.39330de534246a

large.Skar_WIP2_C2A25.jpeg.5a5582c0acccf

I don't have the stomach for more than let's say... 5 more hours on this guy, so next week I should be able to complete this vow : )

Blood and splatters are next after I finish the chipping, which always kicks Khorne stuff up pretty quick I find.

KILL MAIM BURN

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.
