It's been a long few weeks, my family got sick, work got busy, I had to go out of town unexpectedly. What should have been a 3–4-week adventure into some alternate factions ended up taking almost the entire rest of the event. Valkia the Bloody Posted September 14 Share Posted September 14 Not sure if this is even allowed at this late date, and I am sure there will be nothing in it for me apart from a wooden spoon, but I just have returned to the hobby after 2 years of absence and just today, I assembled and put together 6 spore mines for my new Tyranid project. These "spore mines" are just bits cobbled together with green stuff, however, I used them to test out my new Blanchitsu Tyranid paint scheme. Right on time to make a small last minute contribution to the Call of Arms. I, Valkia the Bloody, present hereby the work of a whole afternoon, 6 Tyranid spore mines (and yes, the bases might not be 100% legal, but I cobbled together what I had at hand). I'm really proud of these guys- I feel like I learned a lot from working on these guys- this is a level of detail work I'm not accustomed to; also, in addition finishing this challenge, I finished some previously started Kabalites, and again, learned a lot. I've said before that I don't really enjoy painting, but by the end of working on these guys, I really got into it. The photos are a bit shadowy, but there you have it- 15 models in total- One character at 5 points and 14 other models at one point each for a total of 19. The heatwave sapped a lot of my enthusiasm, I got taken to hospital after developing a kidney stone, I needed to get my kitchen ceiling replastered and I spent a few days repainting it, and my mental health and motivation have been all over the place. It's frustrating because I got so much prepped to paint but once the basecoats were airbrushed and ready to go everything slowed to a crawl. Yesterday I packed away my Aeldari and picked up an Ork model I intend to gift to my girlfriend to try to help with the burnout and it felt much easier to get started on that. I didn't finish my first squad of Aspect Warriors so I earned that failure badge big time. Just couldn't keep up the enthusiasm. And the mental health thing... right there with you too. Important thing is to not let it get on top of you. It might be a failure, but if you got paint on models then it not really. Just got to dust yourself off, and try to get going again. And there are many of us here with the same things going on if you ever need to reach out.
