I, Alby the Slayer, heed the Call to Arms and pledge to paint 1 Tantalus, 1 Archaon, 2 Incubi 4 Kabalites and 1 Kabalite/Mandrake for 16 pts, for the Glory of the Drukhari, the Kabal of the Last Hatred and the Xenos Stronghold on or before 15th September 2025, or bear the badge of failure until year's end and She Who Thirsts will have my soul.

I also pledge the Tantalus and all of the models on it for Master of the Forge.

This project will be centered on Krist'hel, sister of the infamous Archon of the Kabal of the Last Hatred, Thyndrak the Insane. Apparently, it seems she is trying to make a move and claim the title for herself...

Wip of the tantalus with almost all the models plus the sprues from I am taking pieces for last kabalite/mandrake(I have to decide).

Or at least stop telling us about it and save up all your pics to post hurriedly on September 16th like a sane person. There's a difference between role modeling and showing off /s

No can do, my fellow xenophilogist. The hivemind must have more biomass!

And yes, we do feel a certain kinship with the noble parasitoid wasp. Stay tuned for ovipositor action in the upcoming vow...

I, Kora'tau, heed the Call to Arms and pledge to paint A huge Ork lot of models, vehicles, and terrain for 22 pts for the Glory of the Orks and the Xenos Stronghold on or before 15th September 2025, or bear the badge of failure until year's end.

Due to restrictions, the only thing I can submit from this picture is 10 lootas, 1 warboss, and 2 bomb squigs for painting.   This changes my points to just 17 points.     I will also finish the rest of the lot, but score Nothing for it.   And yeah, sorry these have been in this state since January.    Was just hoping for better motivation to get stuff done.    I would also like to add a single ork Mek (1 or 5 pts) that I ordered today from the local warhammer store, so i don't have pics yet of him but can take a pic when he arrives in a week.   I just don't know if he would count as 1 or 5 points, since he is a minor character, but a pretty simple model.    If I can add the ork mek, that would change me from 17 pts to either 18 or 22 points.

@Kora'tau - unfortunately, most of those are too far along to participate.  To keep things fair for everyone, participants can't enter any models that that are beyond the basecoating stage - which seems to be most of them.

These models seem a better fit for the rolling 12 Month's of Hobby challenge.

@Dr_RuminahuiSo thats no points then other than the boss and the 10 lootas and 2 bomb squigs.   I updated the pics of what I can paint that is only primered, assembled, and has no paint on it.

Thanks for informing me that i can't use this competition to actually finish off models i've been sitting on, and I did not know about the other challenge.   I will consider that there.   Also there is a question about a Mek that I ordered today if i can add him to the points and if so how much would be be.     It wont be as a big of a start, but maybe once I get the stuff done for this challenge I can look at some other xenos models like the tyranids I got from combat patrol magazine to add to the challenge or my eldar models that are just assembled and primed.

No, sorry - given the competitive structure of the event, that's really not workable.  As I said, check out the 12 Months of Hobby for that.

And yes, you can add the Ork Mech - if its the character version (which it sounds like) rather than the squad option version (like the one in burnas and lootas) it would be another 5 points.  With the mech, that would bring your vow to 22 points.

Thanks for providing the new photo.  I look forward to seeing what you do with them.

@Kora'tau, I think you posted while I was editing my post to address those issues - yes, you can and he would still be 5 points.

Or you can always make another vow later after you finish this vow, with him and any other xenos stuff you might want to paint.

Well I won't be hobbying or posting until Monday earliest, so I'm doing my Sunday post early:

Not bad for about an hour per fig I reckon.

Yellow still needs a bit of work and then it's gems and (shudders) backpack web designs... So another hour per, I'm guessing.

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

I, zulu.tango, heed the Call to Arms and pledge to paint 6 wreckaz, 3 bomb squigs and Ufthak Blackhawk for 15 pts for the Glory of Gork and Mork on or before September 17th, or bear the badge of failure until year's end." (ignore the beakies in the pic, was priming them for a local git)

CtA doesn't give points for extra models attached to models - so for example, one doesn't get additional points for having a base with a dead hellbrute on it, and a venom with guys hanging off it is worth the same as one without.  That said, I think the Tantalus, especially with what you are doing with it, is definitely worth 10 as large centerpiece character model, so I'll count your vow for that.

I'll need you to post photo of that prepainting - I'll put you in the vow summary for now, but I need the photo to count your vow for the event, so please provide a photo before you complete it (just edit it into your vow post and let me know that you did so either as a seperate post or a message to me).  I have your vow at 81 points.

Assuming the models you are citing are correct (its really hard to pick out which they are in the photo - for example, I count 8 orks and 2 bomb squigs, not 7 and 3), that's only 14 points - 6 + 3 +5 = 14.

-  STATE OF THE EVENT -

I've decided rather than doing reports on the event at the end of every month into the event, to instead do them at the end of every calendar month - so, 2 weeks in, 1/2 way through, 2 weeks left, as I feel that better replicates the flow of the event.  I will still be posting reminders at the 1 and 2 months marks, but with no type of reporting or recap at those times.

So, 2 weeks into the event we have 60 individual participants with 71 vows, for a total of 3,091.5 vowed points.  We have 5 entries into the Master of the Forge category, and zero for Young Bloods.  If anyone else has a Master of the Forge entry, or wants to participate as a Young Blood, please let me know.  Or, if you told me and I missed recording it, please let me know again.

The Stronghold leading in vowed points is the Heresy stronghold, with an insane 1167 points vowed.  Not surprisingly, the largest vow of 410 points by @SgtSharp is also in that Stronghold, as is the most points vowed for a subfaction - in this case, the "For the Emperor" subfaction with 616.  The second highest subfaction is also from this stronghold - "For the Warmaster" has 572 points vowed.  Finally, it is tied for the most completed vows - 2, worth 19 points.

Although its way too early for this to be determinative (or even particularly meaningful), the Imperium Stronghold has the highest completion rate (based points of complete vows versus those of uncompleted vows) of 43%.  It is also the Stronghold with the lowest points vowed at 104, and the only Stronghold with a subfaction with a 100% completion rate - Deathwatch.

Between those two are Xenos with vows of 769 points, Astartes of 549.5 and Chaos with 502.  Xenos has the highest points in completed vows - 69, and is tied for the most completed vows (with Heresy) with 2.

Most completed vows are by @Antarius, who has completed 2 worth 113 points.

Highest individually pointed model vowed is worth 20 points, in the form of a Revenant Titan - our only full sized titan so far.

Finally, in a very humourous turn, according to Bolter & Chainsword the Horus Heresy was an inside job, with the highest vow for the Warmaster (at 365 points) being from the @GodEmperorOfMankind himself.

Anyway, great to see all the participants and their enthusiasm.  Happy painting and I look forward to many more completed vows and beautiful models.
