Very cool model, I wonder if it's a store exclusive or something else?

Edit:

I've just realised he's a classic model that's crossed the Rubicon. It's this guy, and I believe he even had unique rules a bunch of editions ago:

Even this one (released during 7th Edition I think, to celebrate the opening of the 100th GW/Warhammer store in North America) is a re-do of an even older mini from 2nd Edition:

Well, I guess Fabian's dead or considered so in the current fluff. I'm really happy to see they're continuing to experiment with moving away from MKX though, it's my least favourite mark of power armour. Nice bonus that they made the model Ultramarine free so more players can easily use it.

Iirc fabian's been dead since 9th, I would need to check though.

Either way, a very nice mini. Will slot in nicely into most marine forces.

I mean... he's definitely a Primaris Marine but his armour has some elements from his old suit, which is very cool. The actual top part of the torso, the legs, etc are all MkX.

But it's a very cool amalgam.

So, is this a Master Crafted Boltgun + Powerfist Captain? If someone has access to the datasheet, is that an existing legal combination? I don't recall off the top of my head.

Good pose, great miniature... ruined by those knee flanges.

I don't know why, but I detest them so much I can't get over them. Like... you've made such a great model then just ruined it at the end - enjoy.

Yes.

Wouldn't be too hard to clip and file them off, looking at the model?

With him being a commemorative series mini, it makes sense that he's chapter agnostic. All marine models of the commemorative series have been. (EDIT: nope, duuhhh, no they haven't. All with the exception of Bayard's Revenge /EDIT)

I suppose the real question is what form will he be released in? Warhammer+ year 5? Warhammer day? Store birthday? Webstore exclusive?

I hope its one of the simpler ones in order to get him

EDIT: seriously how I could forget that one? It's my goddamn profile picture

This.

Please don't be a stupidly hard to get model.

I need another space marine? Nope.

I still want this one? Yep.

It will be easy. You have to arrive in person at the precise time at a Games Workshop in an area that is witnessing a Solar Eclipse.

Well, if you are up to kitbashand if GW keep up with the current trend, the greaves might be separate partsfrom the legs.

You can just get some space wolves ones from the blood claw set and replace the greaves with ones without knee flanges.

Or you can just cut and sand.

Look at the Firstborn Design Integrations.

Firstborn style Helmet

Firstborn style Arms

Firstborn style Backpack Vents

Firstborn style Stomach Cables instead of Primaris Plate.

Nature is healing.

His collar armour is cut down and better shaped as well.

They really need to do away with the knee rims though.

Firstborn details are cool and very welcome

But

This is the first Space Marine out of all of the ones with collapsed stocks on their bolters that I can recall, that actually has it extended and braced. I think that's my favorite detail

Would be much easier to just not buy the model or spend time, effort or money on additional pieces getting it to work.

While not a Centos model, the limited edition Captain from 8th edition was definitely very similar (although pure Primaris).

Yeah, this one had the superior pose.  I might have to repose the new one if I get it. The new Centos has one foot with the heel off the ground and another foot firmly planted on a tactical rock which gives the miniature a really awkward look.

While technically true, cutting the trim off of the knees really is incredibly simple as these things go, and takes functionally no effort to get it looking like Mk VII knees.

The ankles are a bit more work to be sure, but also feel less necessary.

I don't know frater, I get prefering older style sensibilities, but this feels like a good faith attempt at providing exactly that.

It's called the "Hobby" right? We build, we paint, we convert.

If we don't like a face or a helmet or any bits we source, we change, we clip and we greenstuff.

But I get the impression that anything Primaris is a step too far for you.

I like a good challenge. If I get this guy he's getting turned into Zhrukal Androcles.

He's been believed dead since early 8th, with the Black Library novel Of Honour and Iron. It might not have been mentioned in any of the actual game material until 9th. I don't remember it was ever verified that he was dead, though he did send a "final" transmission reporting that the Fourth Company had been defeated in battle.
