I mean, there’s a good chance this is re-released in other ways.  People paying $100 for a single mini have lost their minds.

this is what new ago FOMO and collector/flipping mindset is

MTG/pokémon have this issue constantly. Companies don´t care as long as people buy. Damn be the fanbase

Hard not to have sour grapes about it when the person in front of you buys 7 and you don’t get one. Wish the store would have limited it but oh well.

That would be the last time I contemplated giving money to that store.

My Saturday plan shifted to Sunday so I was able to take a nice walk up the river into the city to be there around 10, my store had clearly opened early, but had got about 100 in from what the staff were saying and it was stacked 4/5 deep across the entire shelf behind the till while they served sales from a box under the desk. there was a steady queue of about ten people that seemed to be filling as quickly as it cleared so I can't imagine they lasted much past lunchtime.

Stores were explicitly told it's one-per-customer, and not to take pre-bookings.

Then in my case they did exactly the opposite. Wrong and stupid.

This is way I hate these type of miniature "releases".

There is an easy way to meet in the middle here - to get your sales, reward those who waited, and respect a quantity limit.  At opening time, cycle through the line (front to back) and everyone gets a single chit.  Once done, cycle through the line again and the people that want a second get a second chit.  If people show up after opening time and during the chit pass, they get in the back of the line and get a chit when it comes by.  If any remain, cycle through a third time, or a fourth, etc, until you’re out of chits or no one wants any more.  It pays to be early, it pays to arrive by opening, and store still guarantees max sales.

This isn’t rocket science.

I didn't fancy the 14 hour round trip so I've passed.

I think it's deplorable though that stores were allowing people to buy multiples though. That's incredibly poor. Conversely, people buying 7 are clearly doing it for one reason only. People are rubbish.

I wonder how much of the rush is scalpers reselling. In my local "ebay-like" there were already 3 up for sale, while limited models almost never make their way there. All of course for 2 or 3 times RRP. (And some stores posting they didn't run out yet.)

Disappointing to hear about such terrible store practices.

Any store that allowed someone to purchase 7 whilst another hobbyist that made the effort to be there received none would never get my business again. Same for any store doing unofficial pre orders via social media.

In both cases, the stores should be reported.

The mark ups on Ebay are already crazy. Some are 5x the price. GW staff at my local did confirm that the model will not be available again by other means or via the Internet...

People are buying them though. If you filter by sold items on eBay you can see the ones that have been bought for over a hundred quid.

I managed to get mine, had a friend in the city with the closest gw who was willing to grab one for me. Definitely sounds like some of you have some awful stores to allow stuff like that.

I do think that there's decent odd of this getting a MTO run in the next few months, like the original Primaris Company Champion model.

I hope GW China/Russia picked up a copy so they remain available for more people for longer. If GW insists on these awful limited sales tactics and refuse to keep selling them to nonscalping hobbyists, then I have no problem with someone willing to sell them still - at more reasonable price to boot.

Fairly calm in Exeter.  There was a queue out of the door when I walked past at opening time, so I pottered around town doing the rest of my shopping before heading back half an hour later and having no trouble purchasing one from the bunch still on the shelf behind the counter.

The good captain looks better with a beakie helmet, to boot.

GW also only did limited sales of Carl Weathers (RIP) in his Catachan model form. You can still get him from Wargames Exclusive. I am sure Cpt. Centos will find his way to them too.

I’m sure all the recasters will have him and the STL will be around for free somewhere.  $150 USD seems to be the going buy it now rate on eBay.

I missed the chance to get him. My stores sold out within an hour...I didnt think that many would care

Well, it is a loyalist space marine miniature. It might as well be crack cocaine.

Anyone who pays those sort of prices for a single mini has rocks in their head.  Even if it is never released again.

It's probably also scalpers buying from themselves at inflated prices to make it look like that's "the going rate". Happened/happens a lot with limited edition BL novels as well.

There is a FB auction going for one in Denmark. So far it is up to double its cost. Who in their right mind would pay that much for a slightly different space marine?

Really? I’d not have assumed that, it’s certainly not the normal pronunciation which would be “Sen-toes”

It must be a GW thing. "Arbites" I read Are-bites, GW? Ar-bee-tees

...and other news, my Dark Angelified Captain Centos,
