I have come back to the hobby after a long hiatus. I played Blood Angels from 3rd through 5th edition.

I'm in the process of updating these models for HH.

Here's the question: If you were to add a power weapon and a plasma pistol to a squad, would you use two different models for that equipment, or put them on the same model?

Benefit to one model having PW + PP is that casualties can be taken to other models first, so you lose these last.

However, the PP can kill the user, even though that happens rarely. So would you better off equipping power weapon and bolt pistol on one model and chainsword and plasma on another.

Thanks.

Not really an answer to your question but I think I'd just save the points on the pistol. You're not taking Assault marines for their shooting - I'm not even sure you take them for melee, but rather mobile Line. Some power weapons to help them dislodge an enemy Tac squad more cleanly maybe, but ultimately they'll lose against anything melee-oriented.

Mostly agree. I will wait until 3.0 rules are totally out, but power weapons are always in order. My favourite options are power maul and lighting claws.

In the other hand, plasma pistols are too expensive for they do in the current edition.
