whiteridder
Well it are two questions. Where can I find if you can use space marine units like landraiders and so on. I cant find it in the space wolvea codex. Or do I miss something. Abd how to equipnthe headtakers, is there a good build? SvenIronhand
1.) You can; they just won't benefit from some of the stratagems. The 'codex' is a codex supplement. Jorin Helm-splitter
The unit restrictions were in the FAQ of the space marine book IIRC. I'm not sure if that list is going to expand when our book fully releases, (I could see losing access to chaplains for example). It's still kind of early to have a best build for Headtakers, and I think your choice of character is going to matter a lot. My initial plan is to run Ragnar with 3 with paired weapons, and a Wolf Priest leading 6 Headtakers with w/shields. That said the kit has separate arms for the shield and sword arms so I think it would be fairly easy to add magnets. Karhedron
I am currently thinking of a roughly 50:50 split between axe/shield and dual weapons led by a Wolf Priest. The shield guys tank the damage while the Priest revives them. The dual-wielders lay down extra damage with +1 to Wound. I can see a case for either, personally i'm leaning towards dual if you run msu 3 mans with a character like a wgbl as little murder missiles to stage and dish damage. Meanwhile 6 with shields with a Wolf Priest are more durable and with him bringing one back a turn and +1 to wound they'll still chop plenty Ultimately though...magnets Codex Space Marines will have the datasheets for the other things we can take as Space Wolves as well as what we cannot take. Lord Clinto Posted yesterday at 01:53 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:53 AM I hope the SM Codex entry gets an update, considering there isn't a Long Fangs datasheet anymore... I would not hold my breath on that. You can still play your LF in friendlies/pick up games though, just not organized tournament play AFAIK with how legends works RagnarökNRoll 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386072-where-to-find-what-units-we-can-use-from-the-space-marines-codex-and-how-to-equip-headtak/#findComment-6114828 Share on other sites

With SH1 and rerolling 1s to hit, you should average about 6 Hits per model which in turn translates to an average of 2MWs each against their Quarry target (if you can deliver them). 6MWs with Precision against anything (or 12 from a 6-man squad) is quite a tasty package and can threaten almost anything. Jorin Helm-splitter
Yeah, I think the WGBL probably is a better choice than Ragnar for dual weapons. I'm bit a rusty and am going to get a lot of value out of advance and charge on the squad, but I think you have view them as a trade piece because they aren't particularly durable. Saving points and having good buffs helps in that regard. One thing I noticed about the quarry about is that the headtakers get to pick a new quarry when the old one is eliminated. They don't have to be the ones to destroy that unit. I think picking a unit that you know your opponent needs to be aggressive with, may be better than actually trying to pick the headtaker's target at the start of the game.
