What would be the Intercessor loadout for a unit that you want to basically want as an objective holding/fire support unit.

I won’t be attaching a character to them and will likely mount them up in a transport to rush an objective to hold it and then provide fire support for my other advancing units.

I read that the auto bolt rifle is a solid choice with the auxiliary grenade launder for added pain but was wondering if there are better choices.

Intercessors now just have Bolt Rifles, with the Assault and Heavy keywords.

Grenade launchers offer extra ranged attacks for free, so why not take them. ( 1 in 5 only)

The only true choice for them is will you swap the Sergeant's Bolt Rifle for an Astartes Chainsword/Hand Flamer/Plasma Pistol/Power Weapon.

Along with Objective Secured, they received Target Elimination {+2 Bolt Rifle attacks when the squad all shoots at the same target}

For all intents and purposes sounds like a solid objective sitting unit. Add in a transport with even a bit of firepower and you have a nuisance for opponents.

As for the sergeant, he will likely be bare bones. No reason to try and squeeze out a little melee effectiveness on a unit that just isn’t designed for it.

Optimum loadout is probably a 5-man squad, 1 grenade launcher and a power fist on the Serg (Pack Leader :wink:)

I would say that they are not for sitting on Objectives though. If you want Objectives campers, an extra 20 points get you Heavy Intercessors who are far more durable and have better shooting too.

Intercessors have the Assault Keyword meaning they can Advance and still shoot. You want them dancing about on flanks. Move quickly, sticky some Objectives and perform some Actions. Move fast and lay down concentrated covering fire with Target Elimination. Intercessors are wonderfully flexible. You can sit them on Objectives if you have to but planning to use them that way from the start wastes their best rules.
