Logan has been great, one game I ran him with the terminators, one game just solo (even though his terminators landed next to him in the end).

The +1CP bubble is worth its weight in gold, and ive found his deployment shenanigans great too, really has an opponent double guessing stuff/having to be careful screening out their backfield when i can potentially drop teminators/grey hunters/eradicators into their backfield T2.

Got some bad news for you....Logan can only bring "space wolves" in early using his ability

Eradicators can't use the trick

Another item to be aware of is his ability only works on units in "strategic reserves"

That means you have to declare your terminators (or whatever you want to use it on) are expressly using up your 500 point limit of SR instead of generic reserves

When I run Logan I run him solo...i only drop him turn 1 if I need to give OC to my fenrisian wolves and no other SW character can get in range

That is a bit disappointing about Logan, I must remember to read the fine print.

He is not cheap and really wants a Terminator brick to work with, who in turn need Arjac for their killing power. 400 points to really exploit the various synergies and I am not 100% convinced they are worth it. At the very least you need to be playing 2000+ points to be worth considering.

Thanks for this reminder. I forgot about this (don’t play much). And this helps decides my list as I was going down the path of 2x TDAWGs

Ah cheers for that!

Id totally missed the Space Wolves part (still very much getting used to half our units not getting rules but some still doing depending on the strat/ability). To be honest id been on the fence about reserving the eradicators anyway - game 1 they didnt have anywhere useful to come in, and game 2 only found a spot due to us plaing on a 6x4 board (were not the most competitive lot lol).

The reserves/strat reserves/deepstrike rules also blag my head a bit if I'm honest, always have done so the whole points limits/having to declare the termies as SR to use this I'd totally missed.

That does suck quite a lot then as even logan + 5 termies, and a unit of GH with a battle leader is over 500 pts. It seems very odd that his ability wont work on massed terminator lists either

What are you arming Bjorn with? I am thinking Frost Cannon but not 100% decided yet. The MM doesn;t hit as hard but does have twice the rate of fire.

Ive been running the helfrost, Bjorn tends to babysit my home obective and having 2 heavy flamer profiles as an overwatch/skirmish unit deterrent is ok, but he can then also reach out to midfield stuff late game with the D5 profile if really needed - also my bjorn is the SW contemptor with a custom printed volkite...sooo that passes as a helfrost cannon easier than as a las/MM

Yea that’s what I’m doing with Bjorn as well. I have him babysitting wolves which seems oddly fluffy and they have OC this way.

on Logan: thankfully I’ve only really used this on his own unit but thanks for the warning. Terrible restriction though and nit really apparent in other codexes. It makes me wonder if the long range goal is to stop everyone from borrowing from the main marine codex and using any detachment to full effect ( unless that detachment is in your specific book… ie Gladius)

So who is running Headtakers with shields, vs double armed?

I've been running a lot of headtakers in my lists, and I've stopped trying to compare the two loadouts. At this point they're practically different data sheets in my mind. The dual wielding headtakers are more of a one-use point & click unit. If having a cheap trade unit appeals to you, they're pretty good at it, although in my limited experience they really need advance and charge.

I think that there is more of a debate between headtakers with shields and bladeguard than there is between the two loadouts. For what it's worth I've been running 3 units of headtakers in my most of my lists and I'm running 2 units with shields, and one with paired weapons.

I'd assume these are 3 man units?

I have to agree... they're almost like two different dataslates at this point.

Since I am playing Sagas, and I like Ragnar with BC's, I'm running mostly shields. Again I might be biased because I'm playing against a high volume of marine killing armies. Votann is another example. Tons of cover denial, higher AP, 2 damage weapons.

I often infiltrate the 3 man shield units. But I do love my 6 man shield unit with the Wolf Priest. They can be really tough to get rid of. Personally I have been taking the Wolves add on units with them. My armies tend to get a bit small and elite, and everything is fairly expensive with the lack of 5 man units in the codex.

At this point I may just make 2 squads, 6 dudes each, with each loadout!

Good call. I already have 6 BGVs that I have heavily wolfed-up so I will probably run those as Headtakers with shields (and priest) and build my actual Headtakers with dual weapons.

At the moment I'm running 12 headtakers. I've also been experimenting with a unit of 6 headtakers with shields lead by a Wolf Priest. I've only ran them once, but they did pretty well in that game.
