I know WHQ doesn't fall within this boards remit, but I found it interesting that such a long OOP game got an airing on the official subscribing platform of GW

There's been no (to my knowledge) hints as to a WHQ95 revisit, so it's basically a 30 year retrospective, and they are going to do 3 episodes, which is really cool, but kinda out of the blue?

They could have had anywhere from a sentence to an 8 page spread in white dwarf about it, or not even mentioned it at all, but have instead put it on their TV platform.

This seems like something that they didn't need to do and no one would have asked for it, but I loved it. Hopefully see similar with Space Hulk or Gorkamorka when their anniversaries hit.

I think Space Hulk is eventually going to get either a reissue or a remake. It's one of their most iconic and succesful board games, after all (not to mention the obvious crossover sales potential, as the models are directly portable into Warhammer 40.000).

GorkaMorka, while one of their least succesful games that almost ruined the whole specialist games concept (before the SGS was even a thing), might also see a rerelease or redo, as it has a stronger community interest now than it did back in the day. Even if they don't want to go back to the hot stove, I think GorkaMorka is (sadly) still more likely than a straight up WHQ 95 rerelease, as they lost all the files for it at some point (I think it was when they were moving studio or something like that, but I'm not sure). It's a shame because it really was a magnificent game! I even played it last weekend

The WH+ team have previously put out programmes on Cursed City and Blackstone Fortress as well as doing retro or themed battle reports such as Battle for the Farm so I wouldn't read too much into it. They are trying to broaden the content of WH+ and this is one way of doing it.

I've not watched the WHQ episode yet. We (Junior and I) really enjoyed the Cursed City playthrough and I went and bought Blackstone Fortress. They then did a BSF playthrough and it was nowhere near as engaging to watch.

I'm hoping it might be more fun to actually play one day as it really put Junior off the game!

As for Space Hulk, what a game! I've not played v.2 or v.3 so don't know how much they changed from the original. Of course, they'd tweak it again. There have been nods to it in the past Kill Team releases (Into The Dark missions) and I'm sure it will be an element of a future plan.

I'd love to see another 40k WHQ game. I always thought Commorragh would be a good setting, and it would be a way to pad releases schedules for 40k.

Regardless of what environment they choose for it, I think that 40k is at its best when it's being enriched by KT and WHQ, and even HH- though the limitations of that game mean mean that fewer factions benefit, sith Space Marines being the biggest winners. BSF spread the models over a wide range of factions, and I hope that whatever eventually comes to take its place does the same.

I don't know if I'll watch this, but I might check out the BSF episode.

BSF is actually more fun to play than Cursed City in my opinion. It's a bit more clunky because you roll for the enemies individually and there's no restrictions on the amount of wargear cards you can have, but the actual game and storyline is more engaging than CC - or at least we found it to be so.
I think it might be possible to tweak it slightly with some of the innovations from CC to make it less fiddly, but I don't have anything concrete in mind.

My group implemented the way enemies reinforce/recycle from CC to BSF, and we found it added a little randomness and uncertainty to the games (which is a good thing)

i wish they had done a rerelease of the classic WHQ with this article it would have been an amazing release.

Many of the specialist games would be best served as doing them as stand alone books but we all know GW loves their big fomo boxes.

Gorka morka could be just a book where half of the book was just conversion ideas for units using the 40k ork range.

Same with Space hulk tbh. a book with rules and and guides for using ZM terrain and converting terminators etc would be enough.

Now i think the days of GW just doing stand alone rule books are long gone sadly.

Afaik both modern Quest games sold very well

I definitely remember the later expansion packs for Blackstone Fortress selling out quick (day of release, I believe, although my memory could be playing tricks on me).

Before BSF and CC, there was Silver Tower and Shadows Over Hammerhal, which also did well.

Now, if they would play (and re-release) Battle for Armageddon, Doom of the Eldar and the Horus Heresy board games, I would be happy.

There would need to be some tweaks to the rules (it was unclear what to do with single counter stacks in the BfA, for example), but they were fun little games. I got to play all three and still have copies of the first two (a friend had the third).

I remember spikeybits doing an article on how universal Ambull spam was going to be the new meta

Also, Zoats, that was cool

Heck yeah- I want two more Zoats!

I'd be better of if they just released the model, or co-released a model-only option. Thought I'd buy a second Ambull, and for that, I WOULD want the game material too. Ditto on the giant Spindle Drones: I'm still not sure I'd go in on that one- the models aren't bad, but I don't need them to complete or round-out any sub-collections.  I'd consider the Nurgle one- I'm not really a Nurgle guy, but I have the Gellerpox sitting around, and I'd be more inclined to build them if they had some buddies.
