Even if they wanted to, which I can't imagine they do, they wouldn't have the capacity to do so. It does make a nice amorphous "big bad" for people with a persecution complex, or who struggle to understand why some of their views are less palatable to the larger community. Hey, that website is perfectly usable 60% of the time. I’ve heard for years about GW’s far-reaching legal net that they like to throw out and catch anyone even vaguely infringing on anything close to their IP (which is odd since they’ve blatantly ripped off various IPs over the years), so it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re doing this. Still, there are plenty of YT channels that are making fan animations, fanfic etc that are still going after years, so I would think there’s more to it than we’re being told. I really don’t care what a content creator’s political opinions are (unless it’s really bad) and I know for a fact that some folks I follow are on the opposite end of the spectrum as I am, but as long as they put out good content I really don’t care. I’ve tried for years to separate real world politics with this hobby and so far it’s worked pretty well. I’d suggest others do the same, otherwise you’re just going to be miserable all of the time and that’s no fun. This seems eminently sensible, and I really don't get why people think otherwise. Also, the idea that there is a "Games Workshop" that makes all these decisions, like some big cackling gaggle of witches. They're a big business, managing their core functions and they'll have a legal team handling this. If they see someone profiting of GW's IP then it is their job to take action, and I don't think they have the time or the effort to scrutinise every case and say, "ah, but this one seems like a good egg so we'll let them crack on". Sargon making it into Warhammer Cannon was pretty cool lol. I wouldn't go looking into the background of a content creator of my own accord, if I find out that the person involved is supposed to be a bad 'un then it colours the way I view them. Taking a slightly different tack to illustrate the point; if I'm watching tennis then I'm not really fussed who is playing, I just want to watch a good match. Once I find out that Zverev beat up his missus, or that Sinner has been caught doping... now I want them to lose. Captain Idaho
=][= This topic has been reviewed by the mod team and it has been determined it will remain closed. Whilst it can be news to the hobby community that someone has left or ceased operating, discussing whether their politics or those "like them" is suitable to our personal views, is off topic to the board mission statement. For reference, the posts contesting various points have been left unremoved so everyone is fully aware of what this post itself is referring to and how it really is a slippery slope. Besides, the discussion of Heresy 3.0 and potential 11th edition 40K is much more exciting than any media influencer or discussion thereof! Let's go and enjoy the latest reveals and consider how you're going to paint your army as Ultramarines. =][= Edited 7 minutes ago by Captain Idaho Matcap86 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386150-janovich-siege-of-vraks-animator-calls-it-quits/page/2/#findComment-6117313 Share on other sites
