I like both Crozius options. Not really feeling the pose. The skull helmet is awful. Reivers have done a ton of damage to the whole Space Marine aesthetic with their rubbery looking skull masks and helmets. Now almost all Chaplains with the exception of the initial hooded Primaris Chaplain and some of the named characters have these soft looking things instead of actual skull helmets. I don't want to hear excuses about "limited detail with plastic casting", if they can cast Chaos kits with pyramid shaped spikes sharp enough to poke your finger then they can cast some proper looking skulls with cheek bones and all those sharp edges on a Chaplain.

I am totally for 'Chaplain but angrier.'

Love the model. Love the options. Love the rules snippet. Looks like my Templars are coming out to play purge this edition after all!

My only fear is he is so useful that it ends up like the Lord Kakophonist and GW can't keep him in stock.

Probably exactly that

Preordered Lucius and Lord Kakophonist and i am still waiting for them, lol

Once again delaying another project because I want to use this and the Ancient as the base models for it, and also now considering redoing another of my characters because this pose would be perfect for it. My poor wallet though...

Don't need another Chaplain. I'll take at least 2 please.

Again, looks like some nice bits variety, that's like 4 options for the left arm: pyre pistol, absolvor, chained skull and power sword as well as two dfferent crozius variations 2 different backpack icons.

Definately giving mine the sword option.

Im so going sword to!

The only little thing i am a tiny bit disappointed in is the backpack it self is plain. No extra ornamentation. They could have given him a bit more interesting backpack.

Will probably just end up giving him the one from the upgrade sprue. Given that there's two top options, it doubtless follows the same pattern as those.

But I agree, they could have had some unique detail from the back itself, hanging piece of parchment, or chains or candles.

I mean, it's nice to see Games Workshop actually dipping into the English language a bit more - execrate and excrete are two entirely different words, after all.

Very on brand for Black Templars to have a rank who's name is synonymous with 'hate'

Like some sort of Hate Monger...

They should have just said it’s a Black Templars Chaplain, which it is.  Drop the unnecessary unfortunate sounding name.

Can't trademark "Black Templars Chaplain".  It's all just silly names from now on I'm afraid.

I'm happy to finally get a "plain" chaplain helm with minimal ornamentation. All the extra bits options is just gravy. As for the cartoonish look, that's gonna have a lot to do with paint job. There's a ton of great models that suffer from the super clean painting presentation GW uses.

Unless they now disallow regular chaplains this differently named chaplain means that black templars can have 18 chaplains on the field at one time (3 chaplains, 3 terminator chaplains, 3 bike chaplains, 3 jump chaplains, 3 judiciars, and 3 execrators)

It's gonna be even more croziuses and banners from here on out with this codex.

Don't forget Gimaldus!

Also that bare head with sword build is now officially called "angry sword baby."  That baby face is xertainty not making anyone conflicted about going helmet less like the Wolf Priest did. Obligatory "Execretor Make Boom Boom!"

The bare head looks gnarly, will be stealing for bitz. Nice to see a more dynamic pose /  use of a tactical rock!

Hilarious to have these two comments one after the other. Idk how anyone could see a face featuring heavy scarring and an obviously broken nose and go "Baby face!" But hey, maybe babies are a lot more violent where Wispy is from
