Urauloth
I like the terminator plastic kits we have for Heresy, I have 5 guys in each pattern and I plan to build them regardless of what GW might do in the future because they're nice models. However, I'm going to want more Cataphractii for my DA at some point, and while I'm perfectly happy building the ones that are hanging around my mountain of grey plastic, I'm a little nervous about the idea of buying any more when they might be upscaled at some point soon. I think it's reasonable to assume this will probably happen, as Heresy TDA kits are trailing their 40k counterparts in size (the new loyalist Indomitus kit is obviously colossal, but a Cataphract looks like he lapsed on his space gym membership if you put him next to a Chaos terminator). Saturnine armour also looks like a big step up in size even without the giant egg shoulders. There's also that preview image on WarCom of what looks like a terminator packing a volkite charger - that might be a character model, I suppose, but it seems awfully like a tease for a new TDA kit, and it's painted as an Iron Warrior which suggests it's part of the same release cycle as Saturnine and the upcoming breachers etc. What do you expect, and what are you doing yourselves? SlickSamos
Unlikely to happen soon - it's essentially a double cost to replace a plastic kit than to make a new kit (you're not using a ££k tool and are making a new ££k tool) which is why I was surprised that they did it for Mk. III instead of making a Mk. II or Mk. V kit first. I think it will happen but it might be two or three release cycles for both kits to get an update and they'll probably be doing a Mk. IV redesign first. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386225-how-soon-do-you-think-well-see-re-scaled-tda/#findComment-6119740 Share on other sites
LameBeard
I am in a similar quandary - I have some Tartaros that I was going to give to my World Eaters, but they look a bit small. Should I hang on for a rescale? Conversely, my Blood Angels are the old Mk IV - should I save the Tartaros for them because the new ones will look too big! Shard of Magnus
I’m planning to not buy any plastic terminators until they get released in new scale. That was my thought before the recent previews and the teased preview reinforced those thoughts. I’ve got a squad+ of cataphractii to assemble from AoD box sets that I’ll probably use for my Death Guard and that will have to tide me over. My tartaros ideas are on hold indefinitely. The ones I’m torn on getting are the legion specific resin terminators. They are probably some of the last ones that will get upscaled. There are several that I need to get to finish projects. But they are also ones I’ll replace as soon as something in new scale is available as mismatched sizes bothers me greatly. The resin price tag makes me want to wait because of this, but I don’t want to wait years! There are a number of tanks and the teased MK II kits that I’m going to focus on first. I figure that + painting backlog will keep me busy for ~6 months. Given the previews, I’m hopeful more details on a possible re-release will come out in that timeframe that I can then plan around.
