Hello Fraters,

So, quick question:

As we all know, most Tacticus armour kits have those thigh plates (tassets) with the exception of Tactical Intercessors, Desolators and now Grey Hunters and Blood Claws.

I've recently bought some GH to kitbash and mix in with my other minis, they're great minis with some lovely details... but I also really quite like the tassets?

How would you go about getting/making more of them to glue on to those Marine types that don't have them? I've looked for 3d prints but not found any. (Little note to any 3d designers out there - I don't think I'd be the only one who'd buy these?)

Or could you shape them out of plasticard, maybe make a template to cut around?

I'm a bit stumped...

Primaris Crusader Squads and Sword Brethren kits both come with some of the tassets separated from the legs, so you might be able to pick some up from Ebay or a bits seller depending on your location. Bitzbox doesn't sell them separately but I see a few USA sellers that do.

Inner Circle Companions have a few tassets, generally with some attached pouches. Some of them are a bit fancier with a spiked surface.

You could maybe repurpose the tilt shields common in Primaris kits to work as tassets too? They won't look exactly the same but maybe with a little modification you could get pretty close.

I am also a big fan of tassets so for my renegades I make prolific use of the ones from Chaos Havoc kits. Obviously they have trim so maybe won't fit your aesthetic but they are another option.

Also found some pretty basic STLs on Cults. Just search tassets, only a few results on there so should be easy to find.

Thanks guys! I think the only issue with the TDA ones (other than maybe being a slightly different size?) would be getting spare ones without having to buy a whole body? I think the 3d print from Cults might be a good option, though I'm not sure of how to go about getting them printed? (UK based)

Blue stuff mold and make them from GS is definitely a good idea, I've never used blue stuff but I could probably get some and try it out?

I think maybe I will try making a pair from plasticard and see how they look. If it is doable, it is almost certainly the cheapest and most easily available option as I've got plenty of card, and even got some plastic tubes of various diameter that might help with creating the curvature?

Honestly, I've just painted the area with a thin layer of olive oil and applied Milliput to the area (the olive oil is to prevent sticking). Then I've done the same when pressing green stuff into the mould.

Lots of sellers on Etsy have commission services for printing bits that you provide the STLs for. I'm USA based so I can't recommend a specific seller if you are looking for someone closer to home but just searching for "3D printing service" there and filtering by location should provide some results. I commissioned a pack of 15 helmets for around $14 USD (that's with shipping included) and I could have gotten it even cheaper had I waited an extra day or two for a different seller to get back to me. I think tassets using the Cults STLs would be even cheaper. No harm in reaching out and requesting a quote if plasticard or mold casting doesn't work out.
