SirTainly
I was hoping to start this thread with my new Horse Army for 30 and 40K. Sadly with real life things are happening that mean I will have less time for a few months, so that's all on hold. I'm going to share instead models that I have been doing to help clear my modelling desk as I need the space for Apocalypticon UK terrain (I'm one of the organisers). I'll keep all my Iron Warriors stuff to the other thread though. So in the last few weeks, I have been building some World Eaters from the 00s I printed up the Excoriator axes to make the squad a bit more punchy in the current edition - whether I get paint on them before 11th, who knows? :) Urauloth, Firedrake Cordova, Tallarn Commander and 2 others 2 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386246-sirtainlys-stuff/ Share on other sites
SirTainly
Being a bit of a frugal sort, I do like to get maximum value from my purchases. Given the Lord Invocatus kit comes with most of the bits for the generic Lord I thought I'd have a go at making a greenstuff push mould to make a new torso. Results were ok, but not exact, so adding some bits from the bits box gave me something I was happy with - still working on the riders for both. Still need to tidy up the back of the saddle Dr_Ruminahui, gaurdian31, Tallarn Commander and 2 others 1 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386246-sirtainlys-stuff/#findComment-6120604 Share on other sites

Brother Christopher
Great use of bits! This brings back memories of the times I cared more and attempted similar endeavours, not of this scale, though. I think the GS body looks good enough. Parts of the cast (?) are impressively perfect. The only thing I'm not sure about is the chain - I think that the links are a bit too big. But 1. that's a common pitfall with hobby links and 2. it's also quite subjective. But don't mind me. Frankly, I think I've developed a certain aversion to hobby chains since they are 'too realistic.' I find that GW's chains have a certain heft to them and are usually more rectangulary; conversely, actual chains are usually more roundy and lack the heft (if that makes sense) which makes them at odds with GW's usual aesthetic. SirTainly
Thanks guys - the chain is there to distract from the fact that the two halves don't join as they should and the body is actually wider on one side! :D Firedrake Cordova, gaurdian31, Tallarn Commander and 1 other 1 1 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386246-sirtainlys-stuff/#findComment-6120646 Share on other sites
Dr_Ruminahui
Personally, I feel the chain is fine (if a bit large realistic, making it perfectly sized 40K wise) and serves its intended purpose as I didn't notice the size difference until you mentioned it. Besides, I feel the model does need the chain the reinforce the animalistic and barely restrained nature of the juggernaut - otherwise, with its armour, it comes across as rather vehicular. SirTainly
This is a bit of detour from what I planned, but I'll explain why. It's summer so lots of work on our small holding, and I'm still doing prep for Apocalypticon, but I was intending to attend a one day 40k doubles event. Plan was take my Iron Warriors, with Honsou, and team up with a mate with Ultramarines, with Ventris. Seemed a good theme if not exactly lore adherent.. Anyway, my mate had to drop, so I thought I was out of the event, that is until the club got a new person wanting in, so I'm off the subs bench and now teaming up with Custodes. I'm not feeling warm and fluffy about CSM and Custodes though - doesn't float my boat at all. I therefore decided to break out my only painted loyalist army, to find out how much Sisters have changed since 2019 - none of my infantry was legal! I've therefore rushed some painting in, bought some figures on ebay and tried to blend it all together. Before I show the pictures, here's the archived thread of what was done in 2019 Here's the latest: The two canonesses from before, finally completed More Battle Sisters Arco flagellants (I based them all, but since my purchase only included 5, I had to buy another and rush it through) Dr_Ruminahui, Rusted Boltgun and Tallarn Commander 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386246-sirtainlys-stuff/#findComment-6128056 Share on other sites
