Would something like this suit? These are actually the same style bases just in different lighting conditions. Their true colour is somewhere between the two.

I was inspired by @Kizzdougs - the opening post of his thread has links to tutorials - including basing tutorials. His are way better than mine.

That should work.  Thank you and take care.  Kizzdougs tutorial is great.  I need to find a replacement for the Age Rust weathering powder from forgeworld.  This look close ish (maybe need to be more redder) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TG3VT64/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_3?smid=A2PSGQR84QVBG5&psc=1

Colour looks good - no idea about the brand. People on this site seem to like AK Interactive. I haven’t really used weathering powders yet, I have some dark brown stuff from Humbrol I might try. Don’t know why I bought it, I don’t have any models with dark brown bases.

Vallejo have a few weathering powders that are quite well-liked and reasonably-priced. From the name, Old Rust sounds a possible match, but Brown Iron Oxide and Dark Red Ochre might be worth a look?

To an extent, the various pigments are interchangeable, as long as they're the same colour and grind coarseness.

To be honest the GW stuff is perfectly decent in this regard.

I use vallejo red leather to paint the base and then cover the top with Martian Ironcrust or Ironearth, or mostly one with a patch of the other. you can then drybrush the top with a lightened red leather but I usually don't bother.

Here is my recipe:

https://ibb.co/album/xhLjqG

1. Vallejo Red Oxide Paste (as it is discontinued you might want to look for the alternative from Green Stuff World)

2. Agrax Earthshade

3. Bright Orange (Vallejo; drybrush)

4. Application of weathering powder

Weathering powder mixture (Vallejo):

1. Rust

2. Brown Iron Oxide

3. Dark Yellow Ochre

4. Dark Red Ochre

5. Natural Iron Oxide

Powders are applied in this volume:

(1:1:1:1:0.5)
