Hi all, long time warhammer 40k lore fan, who has no idea how the game works! I've read a lot of fiction over the years, from short stories to entire series of novels.

I first encountered the grimdark future in a hot and sandy place some twenty years ago. On the night duty, i picked up a book whioch looked a bit geeky, but i was bored so read it. It was a series of short stories, which were bloody, but actually quite fun to read. Drawback is that at the end of each story, the main character died... I therefore thought that this was the standard pattern for a warhammer story, and was actually surprised when i eventually read a story in which the "hero" survives!

Since then, I have endured the Sabbat Crusade, seethed at the betrayal of Isstvan and suffered through the Siege of Terra. I have rejoiced at the adventures of Uriel Ventris, laughed at the antics of the Space Wolves, and have made my own mind up about Caiphas Cain... I can literally lose entire afternoons going down the rabbit hole of the Lexicanum (other wikipedia sites are available).

Earlier this year, I decided to start writing my own short stories, publishing them on Youtube. Generic sci-fi to start with, but on a whim i wrote of a new chapter of Space Marines. To my surprise, it did far better than the others I have done, so have repeated the formula and seem to be doing at least ok (at least until the GW banhammer lands). I'm looking to encounter other such alumni and basically chat with like minded people. This is my first post, so wont post the link to my channel at this point, but look forward to meeting you in the grim darkness of the far future.

Welcome @frecklestein!

Your interesting story and how you found this hobby reminds me about one similar (altough it was about gaming) from a different era.
