I'm thinking of starting a HH project to challenge myself on two points; painting vehicles and painting black. I'm not very confident with panting vehicles, especially ones of the larger variety but HH has so many excellent tanks and it's looking like they'll be more coming soon. I've got a Sicaran sitting un-built and it would be good to force myself to get it done as a start to the project.

In the past when collecting Dark Angels for 40k I never developed my Ravenwing much and part of the reason was just not being particularly enthused about painting model mostly back but that was a long time ago and I want to have another go at making mostly black colour schemes look good, plus since I have a soft spot for Dark Angels I was thinking of going with them as the legion for this project. I also really want to stick some of the MK.VI heads on some MK.II bodies, I think it will look dope.

I've got some 40k stuff I'm meant to be finishing off but I'm really itching to do some test models.

Yeah I’m going to finally get round to painting my Dark Angels!

 

I got away with one in that I was saving some Thunder Hammers for my Inner Circle Knights Cenobeon but they are no longer able to take them!

 

The overall plan for my force is to hit hard and fast so plenty of jump packs, bikes and transports!

 

First thing I’ll be working on will be a Veteran Assault Squad.
 

I saw in one of the leaks that they can take any Legion Melee weapons is this correct?

I'm starting my first 30k army, currently building & painting 20x Tacticals, 10x Veteran Tacticals, 10x Support, 20x Immortals, and 15x Gorgons.  Going to migrate my Firstborn tanks to Legion use, so I hope my pair of Vindicators are useful!

Mine is on pause for a little bit. Hobby efforts are going into wrapping up 2nd edition projects right now.

When I do get onto it, it will be World Eaters but I'm waiting to see what's happening with chainaxes.

Buying 5 resin chainaxes at a time doesn't sound great.

After my 1st ed 30k Iron Hands army, I swore never to paint black power armour again.  I've since done Deathwatch Kill Teams and small Black Templar projects.

 

I sincerely and earnestly wish you every success, so that I can learn from them.  It may be about the type of armour, like how Mk II has a different shape, more stuff to hard edge or even just drybrush, and I'll use them as a sample.

As for what army I will build, we really need more info.  I did see some of the Legion-specific stuff, they looked interesting.

 

I want to do something close to Fury of the Ancients with the new, slightly nerfed yet also slightly cheaper Dreads.

I’ve done a pivot based on the info that’s come out. Going to start a new Death Guard army instead of working on my White Scars.  Have a decent number of infantry and vehicles to start with and am repurposing my Call to Arms as the first step - so will be working on 20 tactical, 6 jetbikes, 2 sicarans, and a rhino while I consider what else I’ll need for the new army build process.  Long term I’d like to have one of every unit option if the stars align with time.

I have a box of Thallax and the Mechanicum support group on the shelf. Given that the Mechanicum list looks quite decent and not overly bland, I might finally crack on with them and put together a small force.

 

One of the upsides of the new army building mechanics is that, if I chuck in an Arch Magos, then the models I have on sprue are a legal army.*

Later this year I will begin working on a small Shattered Legions force. The aim is to have an army of around 500 pts. Decal sheets of three legions are already in my possession (IH, DG & WE) as well as their specific shoulder pads. The project is supposed to put the crusade back into the game as all three legions will receive either halved or quartered knightly colour schemes. They will also be designated as traitors with suitable decal icons although the twist is that this is just a ruse and Shadrak Meduson himself will be included in the army.

 

The fluff is that this bunch docks onto traitor space stations or planetary outposts with stolen ID codes or claims to have rounded up some Iron Hands loyalists for interrogation. Once they get inside all hell breaks loose and the killing starts. So this means I will probably need also specific bases to show off the environment of a space station or airport runway. 

 

In regards to gameplay they will face off against traitor militia and the selected legions don´t complement each other well so it will be a less punishing game for the traitors compared to face off against a pure Iron Hands army.

Building painting on my XIXth Legion and with all the changes I have some work to do. Plan is work on Assault Company for Call to Arms 2025. Just lost my Jump Characters (Chaplain and Champion) & Destroyers, due to new rules. 

 

I do need to reevaluate my XIXth Legion as it is pretty large and unpainted. I need to figure out what’s staying & what is going to be moved to a new HH army (traitor legion- down to 3 Legions) or do I just build the new stuff as the Pre Primarch XIXth Legion

my plan was to do all the staturnine stuff in WE colours but honestly ive lost all interest in the box after the leaks. So ive gone back to my 2.0 armies. Working on loyalist iron warriors.

Keep on chugging on my Iron Warriors, my HQ are now invalid and my leviathan need to be rearmed.

So, a new praetor, a bunch of centurions and to finish off my tacticals is on my priority to-do list.

After that, cataphractiis, spartans and paint my armour units.

Propably get into allies after that, world eaters, auxilia and mech.

Continuing with 2.0 and my SoH. Once they're painted I'll be grabbing some Mk2 and rapiers later in the year to start my Terran Ultras and Grey Legion Blackshields, probably starting with 1k list for both.

I've ordered myself a Spartan, and ive got a land raider achilles and kratos to be painting for my Iron Warriors. Perhaps some pyroclasts in a termite for my salamanders.

 

Most of all, got to rejig my High/Commanders a bit, depending on the Legacies' options

Kind of in a limbo state. They killed my primary army(Night Lords) that I had the most vested interest in over the last 15 years that I was working on expanding to the point I dont want to play a generic force with it. I might do an Imperial Fists force as a painting project for now, got no real direction for it though at this point. Once the plastic breachers come out I will add another squad of breachers to my Iron Warriors for my Hammer of Olympia heavy force but I really dont need anything else for them as I just built 2 more sicaran Punishers prior to 3.0 as Shrapnel wagons(which we lost).

I had been building a fairly infantry heavy Ultramarines force, and plan to keep doing so. I haven't really kept up to date with all the rules changes and what not, just got a new job and moved to a new place so been kinda busy for the last three months or so, BUT: 

 

I absolutely love the Mk II assault squad and will be getting two boxes, also quite likely getting 20 Mk II tacticals. I don't like the idea of the Saturnine terminators, so I'm not that interested in them though the models are fine. Will be tough to find proper hobby time for a while still, but such is life.

My bet is that the MKIV will either be a mid-edition release like the MKIII was or it will be the 4th Edition starter. MKV will be whichever the MKIV isn't. Pure guesswork though.

What a difference 2 weeks make.  Above I lamented painting black power armour and Fury of the Ancients.

 

Having actually seen the rules in full, I'm returning to Iron Hands for their slight advantage for Dreadnoughts.

 

Even to the point of imagining a new painting technique, it'll be black armour illuminated by red, like a glowfrom within their suits (like how the inside of Horus's and Abaddon's head holes glow red) and by flames at their feet or something, so it's not just all black.

 

It's like...coming home.

At 35 percent off I changed my mind and bought a box, which means my Imperial Fists plan is back on.   The centurion will get reassigned to help legalise one of my existing armies, the rest will get a metallic spray undercoat and a layer of contrast yellow. This was suggested in WD for inductii but I think the saturnine models will look great in it.

I'm not a massive fan of the other Marks but I'd like a few of each.

 

I think I prefer the II to the III though.

 

I'm hoping it's not too long as I'd love to dive in again.

I had been building towards a force in 2.0 where I could have Sons of Horus integrated with Militia and Solar Aux, switching out for some variety. 
 

I had the militia pretty much done as rumors heated up. I built and painted some basic SA, now that had seen leaks etc tweaked the marines part of the plan but am now painting them, hoping to have a SoH/Cthonian Headhunters force done in time for NOVA.

Will hopefully see a bit of a resurgence in 1.0 down in Victoria (fingers crossed) so I'll now continue with a planned 13th Wolfy Boys Great Company concept for 3.0, but in 1.0 instead. Really looking forward to having a small, elite force of marines, supported by some walking-tank Solar Aux. 

I'd imagine the Solar Aux regiment will be either heavily indoctrinated or maybe honour bound to Dekk Tra so they don't let slip about any...'extra' hairy space wolves they see.
