Hello!

I've been working on a traitor guard force for a good few years now and I've always wanted to share some of my conversions: I seem to be chronically incapable of building a model totally how it's meant to be built. My collection has a bunch of tanks and infantry that I'll hopefully share more of in the future, but I'll include a picture of my Leman Russ assault gun conversions to show the kind of thing I like to do. These use the front glacis from the baneblade cut down and mated to the SA Leman Russ, with some plasticard work to fill in the casemate design.

What I've been working on recently has been a platform for a chaos preacher, as I've gone fairly understated with my infantry and vehicles I wanted something that was more evil looking than most of my other stuff. No idea how I'd run it in game, I think it's on the same base size as Lord Solar Leontus so that would be a laugh if nothing else! Any C&C is most welcome.

I tend to use my large bases as pallettes for washes and super glue while they're sat in my assembly queue, so you'll have to forgive the mess! It'll all be covered up by basing material soon.

I really like what youve got going on here and the fact that you used the word glacis. Looking forward to seeing how this develops. I think macharius is a good use of the model. Or maybe you can modify it to be some sort of demon artillery cannon

Thank you! I'm a bit of a tank person so it's good know I'm not being obtuse using the terminology

The tank was built to be as WYSIWYG as possible with the standard Russ, it's not a great angle but there are a couple of heavy bolters in a limited traverse mount to the right of the main gun and the pintle lascannon is meant to represent the hull one on the standard Russ. The second and third images are the conversion that I'm not sure how to run, though I play with mates more or less exclusively so I don't think it'd be too dramatic to run it as something non-obvious.

Love seeing more traitor guard, and love both models. The assault gun is super well done, and I love the preacher. I think Solar Leontus would be a good proxy.

Thats what i meant. Not solar macharius....im old

Thanks for your feedback all, it's very much appreciated! It's not been a good day for spray painting here but I'm hoping to get some paint on the priest/lord solar thing tomorrow

Great start to the log. The tank in particular looks like it came form the factory that way. It'd be a real boon to the few of us hanging out doing traitor guard over in the Realm of Chaos if you could post things there too; we really do need the inspiration sometimes.

Thanks again folks!

I've just put the finishing touches on the Solar Leontus stand-in, I'm fairly happy with it but I'm thinking that the platform thing might be a bit sparse, what do you guys reckon? I'm toying with the idea of putting some burning torches on, or maybe some more traitor priests with trophies, flags or the like.

I've also finally got some paint on some traitor sisters of battle that I converted ages ago but have only just got round to painting, more of these may well come in the future as I'm fairly happy with how the conversions turned out.

Next up though is some more traitor artillery pieces using the new DKoK cannons, they're a lovely kit and I've just picked up a couple more. As always any comments or suggestions please do let me know, thanks for taking the time to look through the thread :)

I think the Solar Leontus looks fine as-is. Adding burning torches or flags/pennants could work, but I feel it would be easy to make the model overly busy/cluttered.

I do like what you've done so far, though - definitely going to be a unique army!

Well I got distracted again  I was in my FLGS the other day and the AoS vampire caught my eye, one thing led to another and I've converted a canoness for my nascent traitor sisters of battle.

This is one of the more extensive infantry conversions I've done recently, with the legs from a redemptionist, the torso from the vampire and various bits from the battle sisters and escher kits; finally the halberd is from the AoS chaos warriors.

Thank you Pearson73 :)

I've overcome the inertia of getting distracted by various projects and have put the finishing touches on my traitor artillery pieces last night; I love the size of the bases as it gives you loads of scope for a mini diorama for each model. I followed the standard recipe that I do for my vehicles on the artillery as I think the size warrants it. I did try my hand at a diorama a little while ago but I wasn't very happy with it, I stole the sign from that project and added it to one of the bases to stop it going to waste.

As a traitor guard converter I find that we end up with an absolute ton of traitor commissars and ogryns, so I figured I'd grab one from the five or six I had lying around and add an ammunition runner for a bit of flavour.

If anyone is interested I've stumbled across a fantastic way to make a large amount of rubble very quickly: manual meat grinders! I grabbed a cheap one from eBay as I dimly remembered a WD from decades ago saying you could make rubble using a meat grinder and sprues, it turned out a £10 meat grinder wasn't up to plastic but it chews through cork sheet like nobody's business! Highly recommend and it'll work out cheaper than buying cork basing material in the long run.

Good grief these are excellent! That traitor canonness is a marvel! I can't wait to see it painted. From what you said, are there going to be more traitor sisters to go with her? Excellent stuff and very inspiring.

Thank you very much! I have succumbed to the temptation of starting a small force of them, I'm not sure how many I'll do but I've got enough on the way to make two squads of battle sisters and the canoness  I'm starting the painting process on them today.

Dude, this all looks great. As for your leontus (sp?) Stand in, I think i know what the problem is: the "fingers on the cart" they frame the central mini, thus making him look smaller and not the central figure of it all. If you were to leave everything as is, but raise the mini up higher on a dais (on top of the cart), then the fingers would be almost arcing or pointing toward the mini instead, and it wouls draw the eye right where you want it.

The Traitor Sisters are coming along nicely. And the Traitor Guard artillery teams are outstanding. I especially like the sign, the wood on the box, and the posing where the Traitor Guard sergeant is disciplining the Chaos Ogryn.

At some point I want to add my 3 old Nostroman 9th Traitor Guard Earthshaker Carriages to bases. And these dioramas will be an inspiration.

Thanks guys!

@space wolf - I know what you mean, it's a big cart and one fairly little guy occupying a lot of empty space and he's not really the focal point. I've still got some of the zombies from the corpse cart, I think next time I'm at my FLGS I'll pick up the skulls kit and maybe have him standing on a mountain of dead and decaying loyalists to give him a bit more height (and push the grimdark further!).

@Tallarn Commander - Thank you very much! I've taken inspiration from so many people on this forum over the years so it's humbling to know I'm now providing it as well as taking it

Well, those Sisters are fantastic! And very Khorne flavoured? I think they are going to turn out magnificently :) Top stuff and inspirational! If you could get any small knives from Necromunda type models they would be great little additions for these, as they will all want sharp edges!

I made some progress on the traitor sisters over the weekend and finished up four more battle sisters as well as the Canoness. I think they could probably do with another highlight on the red armour now I'm looking at them in the lightbox, that might have to be a project for when I've got a couple of squads done.

I have once again got distracted, it's only now I've started this WIP thread that I realise my tendency towards project parkour

My traitor guard tend to utilise second or third line vehicles and equipment, so under that rationale I figured a half-track would be more appropriate than the full Taurox.

PXL_20250810_142921153.thumb.jpg.ce2370d343f2f380c6f1b1526c0ae2ee.jpg

I much prefer the look of half-tracks like the M2 over the French style with the shorter track sections, which would have been the vibe with the Taurox track assemblies as-is. I'm trying to extend the track sections at the moment, here's the skeleton of the idea:
