Tallarn Commander
This looks like a fun project. Are the front wheels from the Necromunda Ridgehauler? They are indeed! I can't quite remember how but I ended up with one of the trailers that use the same wheel sprue. Brother Anderson
I did some more work on the Taurox last night and I think I'm ready to call the build complete. I'm my head it's a second line transport and logistics vehicle, the kind used by PDF forces when they can't get their hands on an IFV like the chimera. I used two layers of 3mm foamed PVC to get the extended track section to line up with the wheels and they looked a bit odd, so I added running boards to the side out of foamed PVC and added some diamond plate plasticard for a bit of visual variety. The actual conversion wasn't too bad, so I'll likely pick up another Taurox to do the same thing to before I forget how to do it! As always any C&C is most appreciated! YoungWolf7
Looks a lot better than the stock Taurox. I always thought it was a goofy and impractical vehicle. Urauloth
That's awesome. Way cooler than the basic taurox. Brother Anderson
Thanks again everyone! Because I can't leave well enough alone, in addition to picking up another Taurox to convert a second transport vehicle I've also picked up a Malcador to convert for a game I've got coming up soon. I like the Rogal Dorn but for me it doesn't fit the aesthetic of my particular army, so I have converted what I've christened the Rogal MalcaDorn: I definitely can't take credit for the idea as I saw a few when I googled a turreted Malcador, but I think the vanquisher turret on the longer chassis works pretty well. It could easily have been converted as a Leman Russ too; I added one barrel of the minigun from the Taurox Prime to the front but you could more easily do the same with a heavy bolter or flamer. I took inspiration from the "drilling" configuration AA guns from the second world war for the triple heavy stubbers that are mounted on the pintle, I'm not convinced by how it looks but I'm hoping I'll change my mind once it's painted. Next stop, enamels! Tallarn Commander
Nice. I love your Rogal Malcadorn. And your Drilling heavy stubber looks great with the 3rd barrel. During casual games perhaps you could explain its WW2 origins to opponents and perhaps implement a house rule that it wounds flyers on a 2+. Next stop, enamels! It's like the MG151/20 ground mount or the triple DShK. That's pretty good. The Valdor hull with a turret looks great. I agree about the Rogal Dorn comments. I feel like it doesn't really fit the Guard range in general, it looks way better when converted to a casemate assault gun. Brother Anderson
Well after getting side-tracked for what has turned out to be a long blooming time, I've finally got that Rogal Malcadorn and the Taurox conversions painted and completed. I'm pretty happy with the Malcadorn but something about the Taurox half-track doesn't sit right with me, I think for the next time around I'll have to do something different about the tracked section of it or something. Next up I've been getting some inspiration in a World Eaters direction recently (the Bolt Thrower song keeps getting in my head!), so I've leaned into it and picked up a Leviathan Dreadnought. I've always liked the design but hadn't had a good enough excuse to pick one up until now; I've experimented with adding some chaos trim to the thing and I don't think it's a trick I'm going to want to repeat too often for my own sanity! As always any C&C, suggestions or anything would be most appreciated :) Tallarn Commander, sitnam, Firedrake Cordova and 5 others 6 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386276-brother-andersons-perfidious-traitor-guard-and-other-treacherous-meanderings/page/2/#findComment-6135360 Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
The grimy surface, chipped paint (e.g. on the cannon barrel), and camo are all really nicely done The dreadnought trim looks good, too, although I can imagine it was a pain to do with all of the rivets and triangles ... Tallarn Commander
The Malcador and half track look excellent! If you don’t like the look of the tracks, you could go with a six wheeler truck. We used those deuce and a half’s a lot in the army. Also, the dreadnought conversion is very well done. How did you do the rivets. Brother Anderson
@Tallarn Commander Thank you! The rivets are taken from some spare parts from the leviathan's weapon sprue, I just used a very sharp scalpel and slowly cut them off one by one; it's the same thing I do with a lot of conversions that need rivets. It's time consuming and immensely fiddly but it's free and it works Tallarn Commander and Dr_Ruminahui 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386276-brother-andersons-perfidious-traitor-guard-and-other-treacherous-meanderings/page/2/#findComment-6135493 Share on other sites
Dr_Ruminahui
I too really like the trim - and having done my own (the turret on my predator -the hull trim was thankfully a third party kit) , I can second its a ton of work. I'll had to try your rivet trick (I used the end of pins for sewing for mine) when inevitably I need to do some more.
