Brings to mind the WHFB/ToW Marauders but I'd be shocked if they got anything new.

AoS Chaos does use less spiky chains in general, tho I'm not sure what they really need updating besides Chorfs.

(TOW Chaos Marauders are likely to be the old ones coming back again.)

Actually thinking about it this could also be an AoS Chaos Beastman unit for S2D since the main BoC army went to TOW.

But if this is 40k then it's probably not Chaos due to the chain being too clean.

No, TOW got the classic Empire flagellants back, leaving the cult of Sigmar in AoS with no models for its frothing zealots. I think we'll see them reappear under a new name for Cities at some point.

Then they’re not flagellants.

but idk about that, CoS doesn’t really give me that vibe too much from the models they’ve put out there, but I know nothin of the lore, so maybe something similar is still in the lore since their refresh.

ToW already got the classic Marauders back, but they lack the Journal hero models (unless you use AoS ones to fill the gaps), so it's not impossible, just super, super unlikely.
