I'm continuing to be impressed with how nice the "Epic-scale" tank models are.

The Whirlwind design is an interesting departure from the 2nd Edition model, in terms of the launcher part - the original "DIY" model by Tony Cottrell had a single 4x2 enclosure like these (albeit with a slightly more boxy appearance!), rather than the split launcher pods of the Scorpius. I'm assuming it means that there'll be a new 28mm kit along at some point..?

Pretty sure forgeworld made a “two pods joined together”  style whirlwind upgrade kit at one point. It is definitely how the launcher on the Land Raider Helios looks.

They did - it was two pods of 3 arranged in a triangle. I think Owen Rees had one in his Dark Angels army, if you can remember back that far.

Designer notes on the new Liber. It's an update to the profiles and points, rather than just a copy/paste job.

Also,

These open up exciting new opportunities for additional content in the future…

Prices for the preorders in Euros:

Liber Strategia: 51.25

Order tokens and Objectives: 25,-

All miniature boxes: 41,- a piece

Cards will apparently be direct only?

Very happy with what I'm reading here. Especially:

Sure could be marketing spiel, but this seems like an update to get all their ducks in a row and make it easier to get into the game and less a capping stone to end support after this.

Also an interesting note on the Formation at the bottom - under "Legion Tactical Detachment", it says "One model has an Apothecary". I wonder how that will work - perhaps need to glue on an apothecary as a sixth model on one of the bases?

I wonder if there will be rules for attaching any of the other characters to other models like this,

Oh good catch. Would be a nice way to make use of the bazillion command squad models you get when purchasing multiple infantry detachments.

I’m excited for this release. Truth be told, I haven’t picked up a brush in over a month now, but this should give me some motivation.

As for the Apothecary, I would think folks would have plenty of leftovers from their Infantry boxes. I know I still have a bunch lying around, I never assembled all those Command Squads since I never needed that many and those Veterans make great stand-ins for Squad Sergeants.

My hope for Felblades is dwindling, however.

Reviews are up. I’ve got a review of the book on goonhammer: https://www.goonhammer.com/goonhammer-reviews-liber-strategia-for-legions-imperialis/

We’ve also got articles looking at the Astartes, Auxilia and Knights, which have had the most major changes.

I’ve painted some of the new tanks, which are lovely. Full review of those is here: https://www.goonhammer.com/goonhammer-reviews-legions-imperialis-armored-reinforcement-models/

Spartans with an extra wound would make me a happy badger.

None of the Astartes stuff gained wounds I’m afraid. Baneblades and stuff like that did, as did all titans.

Wow those cards are crazy expensive! Was planning on getting them as they've been a FOMO item in the past but I think I'll live without them...

Think the original packs at launch were £20, so £3 more for everything compiled is still a ripoff, but... well, it's better than if people bought them individually I suppose.

Feel sorry for those who did pick them up the old ones though.

Cries in hunting those out. Have several copies in the household.

Are the cards much updated? I have the original ones and trying to decide whether they're worth getting. I'm guessing the new units released today aren't in the original sets. I'd check but mine are packed away and it's late.

Astartes haven’t changed all that much in terms of stats, though points are quite different. They’ve got a lot of new units though since the cards first came out.

Personally I don’t buy cards like these if I can manage without. This kind of thing always happens.
