Question about color schemes of 30k Iron Hands

Hi everyone, I have a Saturnine box set on pre-order. I was thinking of splitting its contents into Iron Hands and World Eaters.

As for the Iron Hands, I’ve been looking for a way to break up the usual black + gunmetal scheme a bit. In my opinion, a good approach is the one they’ve adopted in 40k, where the weapons are painted white. However, I’ve never seen this done in official 30k pictures. Would painting the weapons white on the MKII marines from the Saturnine box still be considered canon, or not?

On the subject of creating contrast (besides the basing), do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I think you're covered, Brother, by one of the old 6th or 7th Space Marine Codex/Iron Hands Supplement.  There was an image of Iron Hands Armour Marks Through the Ages from Mark I Thunder to Mark VIII Errant, including of course II and III, ALL with white bolters, which themselves are clearly of different patterns.

Now, it is possible that represents some Iron Hands museum in the 40k era, so they showed white bolters like they're currently using, but I think you're good!

I played Iron Hands 1st ed 30k so I know what you're asking.  This time around, I myself am thinking of giving them a red underglow, like they're on a battlefield and they're black armour is illuminated by fire and explosions.  It's gonna look a little bit Darth Vader-y, but...fire, a bit of an orange tinge to the red glow.

It's an homage to an old discussion here on Bolter & Chainsword how in Master of Mankind, the Emperor summons the ghosts of a legion of dead Space Marines, lead by the revenant of Ferrus Manus, like they're a proto-Legion of the Damned.  Y'know, I'm NOT saying they are, but I'm also not saying they're not hahahaha.
