Matinka
Hi everyone, I've been slowly working on a Dark Angels army since the release of the Leviathan boxset and thought I'd share my progress with you all. I've gone with the 4th Company with Detahwing support. I might get some Ravenwing later on but I'm waiting to see if GW updates Sammael and the Ravenwing knight kits first. First up, a group shot showing most of my completed units: Interrogator Chaplain Sapphand: Honoured fallen brother - Ancient Eradur: Deathwing knights: Next up, Belial Master of the Deathwing: And finally, some recent WIP conversions: A lieutenant kitbashed mainly from the black templars marshall kit A judiciar from a black templars sword brethren with ICC arms. A captain from a storm cast Lord Terminos Thanks for looking! Any C&C welcome Interrogator Stobz, RXtacy, Raziel-TX and 9 others 4 8 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386328-matinkas-4th-company-dark-angels-the-feared/ Share on other sites

Interrogator Stobz
Brilliant work Brother! From the kitbash/conversion work to the painting quality, they're gorgeous. Matinka
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I've currently got some childhood wish fulfilment on my painting desk in the form of a landraider. I've wanted one of these ever since I first saw one in a white dwarf back in the day and I finally got one for the deathwing! Helias_Tancred
Love the Land Raider! Very smooth and clean. So which bone color is that that you used, and which one did you use for the edge trim? I have one sitting in a glass case that has been primed in Wraithbone and I need to paint it soon. Thanks. Matinka
Thanks @Helias_Tancred The bone is a basecoat of Steel Legion Drab, then I airbrushed Zandri Dust and then Ushabti bone. I finished it off with a dry brush of screaming skull. Hope that helps! Matinka
I had a productive weekend! I have a gaming get-together with a few friends in a couple of weeks so I've been putting in more hours than usual to get stuff ready. The landraider is looking a lot dirtier and more battle-worn now This squad of terminators has been almost complete for close to a year so I finished them off at last: I also finished off some plasma inceptors! On a side note, those inceptor clear stands have a terrible connection point - does anyone have any tips to improve them? Chaplain Raeven
Man, those are some exquisite models. The OSL is a bit overwhelming to my taste, but apart from that personal nitpick, your painting is awesome! Especially love your gradients of green. Matinka
Thanks for the kind words @Chaplain Raeven @crimsondave! I'm busy working on some Sternguard vets (which I'm planning on painting as company vets with a twist) and some scouts. While they are still in the ugly WIP stage, here are some close-ups of some terminators and deathwing knights. I used some parts from the older deathwing knight kit to give the terminator sergeant a bit more Dark Angels flavour Raziel-TX, crimsondave, Brother Captain Vakarian and 6 others 3 6 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386328-matinkas-4th-company-dark-angels-the-feared/#findComment-6126489 Share on other sites
Matinka
I actually played a game of 40k on the weekend! I'm happy to report that the Sons of the Lion were able to crush the tyranid menace. I used the Wrath of the Rock detachment and really enjoyed the extra durability it gives infantry. The strat to Oath a second target also came in very handy. Top performers were my terminator captain with the Ancient Weapons enhancement and the sternguard vets - definitely taking them in future lists! Haven't done too much painting recently but here are some WIP squads: I decided to paint the sternguard vets as company veterans, but kept the deathwing colours on the shoulderpads as a nod to the fact that they have the deathwing keyword in 10th ed. Unit of scouts (using black templar neophytes) - I'm expecting these guys to be very useful in future games. I've gone for a whole range of skin tones to represent the wide array of worlds that the Dark Angels recruit from. Finally, here is a group shot of all my currently painted greenwing. The sternguard and scouts should help flesh this out quite a lot! Rockybaerboa, Cpt. Helias_Tancred
Very clean 4th company heraldry on the left knees. Well done! Got any advice for someone else doing The Feared? Helias_Tancred
lol I'm at the age where my daily coffee quota is one cup in the morning and that is it! ... Next one I do I'm going to try a pencil for adding the grid for the top checked pattern. This time I used my brush. Let me know how the pencil grid works out for you, anything to make the process easier! I've been painting my scouts recently who have a lot of leather and decided I wasn't happy with colour I'd been using for the army. I didn't want to re-paint every leather item but a simple coat of Snakebite Leather contrast did the trick! Only took half an hour or so to update the entire army. Here is Interrogator-Chaplain Sapphand to show off his new leather belt and holster: Pretty subtle difference but adds some saturation and orange tones that I really like!
