ThePenitentOne
In my opinion, White Dwarf is about to do a thing that, in my opinion, it never should do. It seems to be focusing ALL of its 40k content on the faction that needs the least additional support because it already gets twice as much support as every other faction. I think White Dwarf's job should be to cater to people who DON'T play Space Marines. Lately I've been buying every issue regardless of whether or not it has content I want. I might need to sit this one out. Hopefully, 516 gives us some new Crusade content, either for a faction that hasn't had a release yet this edition or one of the factions that got a single model. Admech anyone? Drukhari? Oh, wait... I just heard, there's a new Space Marine chapter.... The Sons of Ubiquity. Yeah, I suppose it's more important that they get a background article and a show case. Maybe if we give THEM Crusade content, we can ensure that no one who doesn't already bespoke content in a dex, four Supplements AND A White Dwarf Crusade article for Tome Keepers will ever get extra content. (Caveat: I am grateful for the Kroot, GSC, Sisters Crusade content. Even the Votann stuff, although the Goons said it's basically the same as what they were working with in 9th, so unless 10th's content has changed, it wasn't "extra" content. But it did allow Votann to Crusade for a year and a half despite the dex. If they had done the same for Drukhari, it would have made a real impact in my appreciation of and ability to engage with the new edition) Rant over, and to those who love Space Marines, enjoy the issue. ThePenitentOne
I've got to admit, even I might be interested in the armour marks poster, because as a guy who only plays Chamber Militant Marines, I have a really hard time telling one mark from another. MoriyaSchism
I'm with you in this regard. This issue doesn't grab me at all, but I haven't bought an issue of White Dwarf since I unsubscribed years ago. Only thing that's tempting is the transfer sheet, because I'm really curious what's on it. 442 decals sounds crazy. If it features some obscure chapter icons it might be good for Deathwatch players. Nephaston
The Transfer sheet is the most intriguing part, wonder if it's neutral or if they did another Tome Keepers one. Joe
Just to like, ensure we're actually following NRBA rules and such. Quote August’s issue of White Dwarf is a Space Marine special. There are rules for a Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Operations mini-game you can play with your own miniatures, with cards included, as well as background for the game’s setting – Warzone Bastior. You can look forward to instructions on how to create your own Chapter, accompanied by examples by ’Eavy Metal and staff from the studios, and there’s even a unique Space Marines Transfer Sheet with 442 decals, plus a double-sided A2 poster with Mechanicus II art one one side, and Space Marine armour marks on the other. Mortal Realms content comes in a Skaven flavour this month with a look at the Great Horned Rat and the creation of the Spires of the Gnaw diorama, and there’s also another instalment of The Trials of Albarak. Finally, there’s a discussion of the design of the miniatures in the Saturnine boxed set, plus a visit to the Bunker rounds things out. We’ll have more details on what you can find inside on Monday. Definitely planning on picking this one up myself for the transfers. We typically see an article the Monday after announcement covering contents in a bit more detail, so we'll hopefully see a sneak preview for that sheet then. Tastyfish
A misc DIY marine chapter symbol transfer sheet actually does sound interesting. I wonder if it's from the new Death Watch Kill Team Kill Team or something unique. Evil Eye Posted yesterday at 02:03 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:03 AM Man, not a good choice of miniature to plaster on the cover for the Space Marine special. Cripes that Titus is such a horrible model. A shame, Space Marine 2 almost made me like Primaris. Almost. Marshal Reinhard
Who are these Sons of Ubiquity and why do they get a transfer sheet with 442 transfers on it? Seriously though, I would love to know what's on this sheet Edited 20 hours ago by Marshal Reinhard N1SB 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386353-white-dwarf-515/#findComment-6124721 Share on other sites
Uprising
The Sons of Ubiquity. Interesting name. So they are everywhere. Wait a sec, its the Alpha Legion as a chapter. Ubiquity: in its simplest form, refers to the state of being everywhere, or the quality of being widespread and present in many places simultaneously. It implies a sense of omnipresence or pervasive existence. In essence, it describes the condition of something being found in a great many locations, often at the same time. Joe
Article is up. Sadly no mention of the transfer sheet. Quote A huge 20-page section all about custom Space Marine Chapters – with examples from the ‘Eavy Metal team and other members of the Warhammer Studio – is a gold mine for Warhammer hobbyists looking to add a unique spin to their personal armies. This expansive guide is full of guidance for picking your Chapter’s name, symbol, and elements of their backstory, and includes a handy table for randomising anything you need a little help with. It’s all capped off with tons of photography showing incredible paint schemes and converted miniatures, bringing the Studio’s armies to life. ThePenitentOne
I made the Ubiquity crack because the Ubiquity of Marines is the very thing that makes them less interesting (to me) than other factions. They are like the song the radio insists on playing twice an hour, every hour until you hate it. Sweet Child of Mine is also my least favourite Guns and Roses song.... Not because it's a bad song, but because it was so overplayed that I'm still traumatized 30 years later. That's Marines for me. Funny thing though? This will likely be the best selling issue of the edition.
