Pleased to see the alternate Saturnine Dreadnought weapons out so soon, I much prefer them (both in looks & rules) to what came in the starter box.

anyone seen a price on them yet, and do we know if its one set, or two different sprues sold separately?

For the states they're 80$ for the Terminator squad, 112$ for the dreadnought with the configurations split, 30$ for the dreadnought weapons sprues again split into separate packs, 52$ for the Praetor, 60$ for the veterans squad, 85$ for the tactical squad, 38$ centurion, 30$ disintegrator set, Quad accelerator 65$,  Drop pod is 58$. 45$ for the dice

The terminators and dreadnought feel ridiculously priced. The dice are absurd, but that's no change from the usual.

There’s got to be some irony award that they re-released the drop pod for the edition that killed drop pod assault.

I’m happy it’s back though, I much prefer the older version to the new 40k one.

Adding insult to injury.

That's certainly one way to make the box that much more attractive looking;

Tallying everything up, including templates, transfers, dice, and rulebook, and assuming the disintegrator sprue is €37 like all the other upgrades, BUT not including the araknae platform we already are at a whopping €552.25 compared to the box at €245, or 44.3% of the individual price. Once we know the araknae price we#ll probably be looking at an asking price of over 600 for everything individually.

Going by the current 3rd party firesale of Saturnine  - I'd say the strap line may as well read 'Buy a Dreadnought, Preator and centurion  - get 40 marines,  some terminators and and a gun turret free'*

* also includes free doorstop in the shape of a rulebook.

Well, the Araknae is at €55, but the disintigrators are only €22.50 instead of the €37 of other upgrades, and re-adding everything shakes out to €594. That includes everything but the new measuring stick, which they do not sell.

So yeah, a lot of freebies to hook the addicts.

There are no firesales in Germany

While not a firesale, Taschengelddieb gets it down by 20% to €196, which comparatively is still very good. And when compared to the full individual price it's basically 66% off.

IF one wants everything in the box.

What is going on with sprue pictures?

BT Ancient have one, but none of the new heresy kits do. And looking back, neither does the Thallax or Castellax, but the earlier SM and SA do?

Photography has been lacking recently; it usually takes weeks for sprue pics and 360° views to be added. Either they keep the photography team super busy or they cut it down to fewer people.

The sprue photographer guy is trapped in a warehouse with that bat.

Why are people suddenly defending the old terrible kit of a Drop Pod?

Because the new ones are trash?

Mushy detail. Zero articulation. Ugly rubble

What's up with crying about hard to build kits?
I see that with Horus Heresy sometimes and I don't get it.

Other than the flyer, who's name escapes me, I dont remember too many 'difficult' kits.

That flyer however has a spot reserved in the Eye of Terror already. Absolute monstrosity.

If a mildly challenging build is the price of detailed and adjustable models in willing to pay that price

Storm Eagle / Fire Raptor? They're the ones I've always heard the worst warnings about.

OK the main issues i have is that the old ones cost more £27 for one compared to £40 for 2 of the newer ones.  I had no issue with building the old ones but then i started on scale models in the late 80's.  Damn i'm showing my age now

If they old ones were 2 for £40 also i would buy those instead as i prefer the option of  closing the doors for transport and opening them to deploy.

Im sure somebody will correct me and say due to the dimensions the old ones are not usable in 40K but that doesn't matter to me as i dont play anyway.

It's more that there's plenty of precedent that HH fans like to have old stuff and pay more for "special" kits. This is an easy way for them to get more money on an old kit from a fanbase that love it.

For modern 40k, drop pods had (excuse the pun) dropped off a lot AFAIK, so a new easier/cheaper kit with less rules ambiguity was perfect.

The old first release of the Eagle was bad, but the Fireraptor wasn't too bad because you could square it from the bottom up; and they were only really hard to build because FW couldn't send a straight piece of resin to save a life if they tried. The Fellblade was pretty painful too (in the boiling water and molding things straight while ignoring the slowly forming 1st degree burns kind of way) the only kits I can say we're easy were the Leviathan and the Sicaran, and maybe the Deredeo if you're ammo feed wasn't too wonky and missile launcher didn't have any major tweaks. Otherwise the Heresy has always been home of the advanced modeling challenge.

I'm just glad that the drop pods (and the deathstorm pods) live to see another day. I think pods look good both opened on the table, and closed on a shelf.
