So having seen a few vids/shorts/images about the interwebs updating Grey Knights to the Primaris scale and I'm CHOMPING AT THE BIT to get after it.

Plan would be to buy the Combat Patrol, and then the new Terminator Librarian for the old one, Deathwing Knights for the Paladins, Sword Brethren for the Strike Squad, and a Saturnine Dreadnaught for the Dreadknight, smashing each pairing of units together.

So what's the hesitation?

It's going to cost $550AU for one Combat Patrol of models.

Secondly, it would be purely a project to sate my desire to convert and would end up on eBay once completed.

The question is:

The Combat Patrol would need to sell for close to $1000AU (plastic) or $1500AU to warrant the amount of time and effort to do.

Is it even worth the time and effort if a model refresh is closer vs. further away?

What say you? Is $1500 too much for a fully converted and painted Grey Knights Combat Patrol?

Honestly, I think you're on to a loser trying to make your money back. People interested in Grey knights are probably in one of two camps - already have them, or are waiting for the range refresh - picking up not enough to play a full sized game of unique and expensive to replicate and expand models is a tough sell in that atmosphere.

It sounds like fun, but I wouldn't expect to break even.

I have to agree with @Cleon here. This sounds like a fun idea, but I think if you’re just gonna do it to sell it off then you may as well not do it at all. Honestly though, I like the concept. Homebrew Primaris Grey Knights sounds really cool, but I think you’ll have a hard time trying to break even when selling it. You’re gonna have trouble finding someone willing to pay almost $1000 USD for a homebrew combat patrol.

I'd honestly say to not bother if your goal is to make money back after buying all of official models.

But, if you know a recaster or have access to 3D printing of direct copies, then it may still he worth it just as a project to yourself if you don't end up selling.
