Which Legion (or army type) benefits the most in low points games (like 1,000 pts)?

Recommended Posts

Our meta is thinking of doing 1,000 point games using secondary characters like Sigismund or Corswain, etc.

So any Legion or special Terminator, etc., would benefit most in 1,000 point games please?  Not asking to make an Win At All Costs army, but more like I want to know the lay of the land.  I absolutely believe that certain Legion Tactics scale up better than others.  Like people aren't taking a Lord of War.  Would the answer be just Imperial Knights, for example?

What I found from HH 1.0, when we actually played a game using 200 pts Kill Team rules (very compatible at the time), was Iron Hands had a substantial advantage in that special scenario.  Their reducing enemy ranged weapons' Strength made Bolter fire much weaker.  Not thinking of doing that, but it showed me that different Legions are optimal at certain point ranges.

Ebon keshig would be at the top of my list. Vanguard and expendable with the White Scars bonus to movement and reasonably cheap for a legion specific unit to boot.

Next on there would be Alpha legion, a Vigilator picking up a headhunter leviathal could be quite fluffy and messing with range could save some marines in a pinch.

I think last on my list would be Night lord's with all the fear that their units have along with easy access to status causing weapons.

I suppose it kinda comes down to what you want to play. At a pinch I would be heading to the following:

Crusade detachment

Vigilator - prime

Logistics benifit - Lernaens w/ conversion beam cannon

Headhunter leviathal

2 x 10 seekers

2 x 4 outriders w/ twin plasma

A bit of mobility with Vanguard and Line on some units and a mix of ranges. Suffers a bit from the lack of anti tank but feels quite Alpha legion to me. Could use the prime benifit to steal just about any legion non commander unit instead of the Lernaens
