DarthTangYang
Hello! I'm a complete noob to Warhammer 40K and have recently purchased my first set of figures to paint. The box is a "Tyranids: Termagants And Ripper Swarm + Paints". So basically a starter set. However, when I opened the box I soon discovered that one of the bases were missing so I set out to find some online. The ones that WERE included in the box were round, 28mm in diameter with bevelled edges and had a hexagonal, slightly offset hole for mounting the figure. I would obviously prefer to mount the last figure to the same type of base as the others and since you can basically find anything online I simply assumed finding these bases would be a piece of cake... well, for some reason it was not. Now, since I'm a noob at this I felt I probably should get involved in the Warhammer community in order to learn from the experts that have been doing this for years. Perhaps there's something I'm missing here? Why are these so hard to find? I have found lots of different sized and shaped bases but not these particular ones. Since I live in Sweden I would obviously prefer to be able to order them from within the EU, not having to mess around with VAT and such nonsense, but any help here would be greatly appreciated so I can continue painting and finish this set. Thank you in advance! Grotsmasha
If you purchased this set from a GW, you can return to the store and they should be able to sort it out for you. Your next best bet is to email GW directly, their customer service are typically fantastic. Last option is to grab your hobby knife, hand drill and a regular 28mm base. use the knife to round off the peg on the bottom of the model, and drill (or cut with the knife) an appropriate sized hole. As to availability, those specific bases generally only come with push-fit starter-kit models, and are sold with those models. So generally, they all get used and don't end up as spares. Firedrake Cordova
I'll second what @Grotsmasha said. If you bought it direct from GW, they'll either send you the missing base or tell you to take it to one of their stores and they'll exchange the box. If you bought it from a third-party retailer, GW may tell you to return it to them (I'm not sure what their policy is these days - they used to replace parts bought from third parties but I think they stopped doing that). Otherwise, the easiest option is to drill the base if you have the bits to do that. Hopefully you get it sorted out without any fuss! Grotsmasha
I just checked the Webstore, there should be four bases, the 3x 28mm, and the 1x 40mmfor the Ripper Swarm. Sounds like it's actually the 40mm which is missing, and much easier to source Firedrake Cordova 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386383-hard-time-finding-28mm-round-bases-with-hexagonal-holes/#findComment-6125274 Share on other sites
Ace Debonair Posted yesterday at 10:04 AM Share Posted yesterday at 10:04 AM Speaking from prior experience (and I just double checked to make sure) Bitzbox also have those bases for sale, but since it's a UK website that might wind up a more expensive fix with postage and whatnot. Still, as a last resort if nothing else, I humbly offer this knowledge. They also sell the 40mm one for the ripper swarms, if that's the one that's missing. Khulu Posted yesterday at 12:37 PM Share Posted yesterday at 12:37 PM I bought some Termagants on ebay and they came missing a base. I couldn't find a replacement so I cut the peg off and pinned the model to the base instead. I don't know if that would work for a Ripper Swarm as well as it did for the Termagant, though.
