Back Working On Ultramarine Figures

After almost 2 years of not working on my pile of shame I have decided I would start another UM company.     This is the Third Company.    I built 90 % of the command squad for it and some Devastors..    I got tired of looking at the 19 sm figures on my desk that needed work.   So far I am working on 10 Devastor troops with bolters, and 10 tactical marines.    Spent a few hours today painting the 3d printed shoulder pads with the UM and tactical squad symbols, 16+ bolters and associated arms.   In addition 2 missile launcher troops for tactical squads.   I already have several sgts. built and painted.     Note I was using GW paint for the men in blue and felt the Macragge Blue was too dark.   I then tried using Contrast UM blue and was not happy with it either.   I found i had a bottle Coat d'arms #148 Marine blue and was happy with that.    I am painting by hand.   The new figures match what I did years ago.    On ebay i bought 3 more bottles of #148 marine Blue as I will make a full company.

Brothers I have now finished basic painting and building a full tactical squad and 11 SM with bolters for the two Devastor squads.   All 21 figures now have to be detailed painted and ammo, pouches added, grenades and pistols.   Oh yeah have to add the award things to them.    My command squad is also almost done.     Partially assembled another 10 tactical squad marines.  The shoulder pads are already painted ( Bought long time ago from Pop the Monkey).  I have enough boxes of unbuilt figures  to do the third company and part of a reserve company.

Here is my update on my Ultramarine Third Company 

I intend to do a full company.    I already have full Fifth Co  Almost full Fourth company.  Still need to do the captain for it.  

Command squad 95% complete   I have to finish the bases.   

Devastor squad 1:  90% done have some touch up painting to do.   Has 4 lascanon troopers, sgt and 5 bolter marines

Devastor squad 2:  It has sgt and 5 bolter troopers done.   Need to figure out what heavy weapon to give them.  Do I do 4 Missile launcher troops or four heavy bolters or 4 plasma canons?   Or is it better to have combination of the heavy bolters with the plasma cannons.   I will give each tactical squad a missile launcher.  

tact squad 1; Sgt, 9 troopers.  Heavy bolter trooper and missile launcher trooper 90%

tact squad 2: Sgt, 9 troopers.  Missile launcher and gravgun troopers?  90% done

tact squad 3:  Sgt, 9 troopers. Missile launcher and melta gun.  70% done need to add correct shoulder pads on squad members.

Tact squad 4:  Sgt built and painted.  Assembling parts for the 9 other marines.   Will have a missile and flamer troopers  

Any ideas on what second Devastor squad heavy weapon load out should be let me know.

Brothers I decided to go with two heavy bolters and two plasma cannons for my second devastor squad.   Need to add their pauldrons and heads.   

I started on fourth tactical squad.   Also bought two old metal tech marines on ebay as I lost the parts for mine.   I will detail for the UM s.

I spent a few hours going through all my boxes in our bedroom to see what I have in my pile of shame.    It appears I have enough to make 2 more tactical squads for my Third company and  enough assault marine figures to do the full two squads.    I will then have enough figures to do part of another UM company.  Note I already have the Fourth and Fifth UM companies 95% completed.   I also looked at my 3d printed shoulder pads and have enough for this company and then many more.    I even ordered more from Pop the monkey site.     Started to paint the pads for the remaining squads in third company.     

I wish GW gave you more pistols with holsters and more large ammo pouches.   I have a bunch I ordered on feebay coming.   VBG.    I like to add ammo pouches and grenades to most marines with bolters and the pistol with holster too.

Latest update:

Received order of bits from Pop Goes the Monkey.   Great site!

Finished adding pistols in holster to almost every figure in my Tactical and Devastor squads after painting about 70 of them.  I added large ammo pouches to almost every marine with bolter.   SM need ammo, right?   I added grenades to some figures where there was room.    

Started to assemble and painte sixth Tactical squad.   Have to add shoulder pads to 5 of them, then add ammo pouches, pistol in holster and grenades.   

Next step for me will be some more detail/ touchup painting of all 80 figures done to date..   

Also received 3 OOP Metal Tech marines as I lost the parts to one I started ears ago.   Will paint them red with appropriate metal parts gunmetal or steell.   Two were painted really top notch so only some minor repaint involved.   Third one needs to be primed and then painted red.

Also sorted my Assault Squad boxes.   I have enough parts to do both full squads plus I can do almost a full third squad.    That one maybe from Reserve assault company.    

I am not doing highlights.    

Is there a place where it shows how to post photos?    I want to show what my full Company looks like.   VBG

My painting skills are no where close to many of our SM brothers.
