So I am a total Horus Heresy newbie, but started assembling the big HH3.0 box.

I can pretty much most things out but I have to admit I have no idea on how to deal with the Saturnine Terminators.

They come with the Plasma Bombard and the Disruption fist standard, but basically you can pretty much decide if you want each arm to carry a bombard, a fist of a heavy disintegrator.

How do you guys run them? What are your thoughts? I'm not really sold on the heavy disintegrators myself, and considering going bombard + fist + shredder. Though running 2 plasma bombards per terminator seems really sweet as well...

Well, first of all I don't have any Saturnine yet. But my plan is at least equip some of them with dual shooting weapons. Plasma and disintegrators, because in this edition shooting have more weight than close combat.

Anyway, I'll try to make the miniatures with exchangeable weapons.

I've gone for fluff (and a dash of tabletop ability) with mine - disintegrator and fist (no shredder).

Fluffwise I feel like the (traitor) EC would go disintegrator over plasma because pain = pleasure etc. and they have little regard for their own safety. They keep the melee option, rather than two shooting weapons, because they like to get up close and personal.

Gamewise, I do think the double shooting weapon is attractive, but it'd have to be double plasma as the double disintegrator will just blow up your own guys too fast. The fact the plasma is indirect also means remaining stationary won't be such a problem (need to remain stationary to fire both weapons). Remaining stationary with double disintegrator is just asking to be avoided/run away from. But I can't help but feel that paying points to lose a really good melee weapon could come back to bite you, I like the idea of being able to chuck them at something tough.

I've held off building the last two to see what comes of the command squad/centurion options. WS5 Saturnines with 3A would be utterly brutal, and will make me glad I kept the fists on them!

I've not got mine high in the backlog pile (the excess discount applied to the box tempted me in the end), but my first three will definitely have the fists because to me they just look so much better than two guns.

I feel ya! And damn, it would be so frickin' cool to do some plasma dualwielding! I think that would just look really badass on those Saturnine Terminators

I'm magnetising mine for that reason, I think I am waiting till the next journal comes out because it focuses on them giving options for centurions I believe.

Do we know if there will be any upgrade kits? It would be nice to have a bit of an idea of where to magnetize them

No shredder?? But damn, for those 5 points you get the ultimate marine-killer-flamer :P

I think I'll add 1-2 in a squad, if you can get close to a unit of marines and you turn the flame on then it's a guaranteed BBQ. I think that dual-wielding them seems like the popular opinion at the moment.

I think the 2 disintegrators look a bit silly, but 2 of those thick plasma barrels firing down plasma death... man, I'm a sucker for that! Also with some OSL it could look pretty cool!

But then I'd miss out on the Particle Shredder... hmmm... If only you could go Particle Shredder on the Plasma bombards :P

Built 3 so far and went Disintegrator and Fist (no shredder). I was thinking about building the other 3 with dual plasma. Dual disintegrators seems too hazardous to the user for models that expensive, and since they can't fire out of LoS and you only get Firing Protocols if you don't move I was questioning how often you'd be firing both guns anyway.

Yeah this was my exact thinking re: double disintegrator. I have preordered the Saturnine dread sprue so I can equip him with double disintegrator though as he can move and shoot both...!
