I don't think it's ever happened with a model of that size, though? I can't recall if Angron and Fulgrim released in the army boxes or separately? It's certainly never happened that a model that size has debuted in a box for a different game, but these are uncertain times, so who knows?

Angron and Fulgrim got seperate releases (angron then got an Xmas battleforce, which is why people are theorising Fulgrim will be in an Xmas  Emperor's Children battleforce). However I'm not sure thats a good comparison as I don't think theres any precedent for a model of Nightbringers size. If it comes in the KT box it'll be a first.

This helmet might be taking a few design cues from Kevin O'Niells art in the 2000 ad strip "Nemises the Warlock".

For those who don't know, that comic had a  far-future xenophobic human empire from Terra led by the Grand Inquisitor Torquemada and his army of Terminators. Torquemada was the undying, corpse like, leader of all of humanity.

Seems familiar.

I really like the new model but I do sympathise with Necron players who will have to transport this as it looks to have a lot of fragile bits.

You get used to it ever since the big 9th model range update in particular. I never use foam anymore, magnetic trays is the only way to go for myself. Mr. void dragon and silent king enjoy it.

Seconded. Even ignoring the larger models, smaller models have sufficient breakables that mag boxes are the way. Bankers boxes, metal plates and carpet tape plus 6x2 magnets and I've been sorted. Also worked out cheaper than cases. Being stackable means they're easier to store. I never had any issues with the Void Bringer as the model's a lot more sturdy than it looks. Assuming Nightbringer will be the same.

Yeah foam cases isn't a great solution for a lot of modern minis. I just about broke off the obelisk on the Jade Obelisk band from Warcry, and I nearly (war)cried

Scarabs with the little stones on their backs, not your typical scarab. Wonder what that's about.

The night bringer hates all life, and they've got a chip on their shoulder.

The stones are Blackstone, so presumably its part of keeping the shard under control and not have it turning on the Necrons :)

Yeah the Void Dragon has a big ol scarab on his back, and part of that lore is that it's responsible for keeping him in line.

I can imagine these little scarabs are part of keeping this shard in line.  I like it better than a repeat of the scarab back-pack.

I mean… they could just release the Nightbringer on its own, for 40k, at around the same time as the Sisters-V-Raptors Box, as a tie in to the KT box/storyline. It doesn’t have to be in the box.

they’ve shown recently that they feel comfortable just releasing new stuff for 40k without it having to tie in to anything (with the SM Drop Pod, and new SM Characters). So releasing it at the same time as it is featured heavily in an ongoing story seems like more an enough to justify a release, to me.

That's me!  So I got this 1,000 point Triple C'tan Crusade list I made during 10th ed launch's Call To Arms on B&C.  The middle AoS mini is for the Transcendant C'tan; she's kept at the store so I don't have to transport her to & fro.  HOWEVER, my 10 Necron Warriors, converted Royal Warden (I call him my Necron UNDERlord), the Deceiver AND Nightbringer fit neatly in one of them GW black boxes, no problem.

When the leaked Nightbringer image showed up in our Warhammer Store WhatsApp, I literally asked, "How do I 带 this 出街 ?"  It literally translates to "how do I take this outside/onto the streets," and is pronounced "how do I dai this chut gai," which rhymes all over the place and sounds like a guy who can't really speak English trying REALLY HARD to ask GW what to do with this mini, 'cos srsly.

Immediately our Warhammer Store manager replied me (in spoiler below):

"Bring him at night."

You guys see what I have to deal with around here.
