I always imagined the lasgun having a red beam? I seem to recall that was the case in a few of the 40k CGI animations from official sources?

Well you just made some people very angry, I'm sure.

GW's own stance is "Normally yellow, but there's a lot of reasons they'd be something else, so go nuts."

Weird, I never gave Lasgun fire colour too much thought. Lascannons fire was always clearly blue in my mind and I guess red for Lasguns, don't ask me why I imagined them as different colours, bigger guns mean different wavelengths or something.

Dawn of War? Lasguns are red while the lascannons are blue on the landraider and predators as I recall....

Las has always had different colours (much like plasma).

But also, lasguns for imperial forces have traditionally been red. The mass of red las beams in dow1 is pretty iconic, and both darktide and space marine 2 also use the red beam. It's what people expect to see from guard lasguns in video games, just like they expect to see green zappy rays from the necrons.

I initially agreed but theres a whole heap of evidence to say this is the correct representation of the lasgun somehow. Likely GW being bad or inconsistent with physics.

It wouldn't be sci-fi/fantasy without SOME inaccurate physics.

I'm very excited for this game. But from the recent trailer/teaser I think the voices are lacking. Something.

Dow1 is just so iconic we could quote it for an hour. Like a Monty Python sketch.

This game needs the same. If it ain't the same or better it ain't'nt.

Witness the Glory of the Emperor, through me!

I feel like I'm going crazy here, reading the last page of posts. No, the change isn't about color. I have no idea where anyone is getting that idea.

The most recent depictions of Lasguns turn them into Star Wars blasters. They don't shoot beams anymore, they shoot discrete bolts. Bolts that can be visibly tracked because they move much slower than the speed of light.

I'm old enough to remember the Fire Warrior game where lasguns shot little, almost "globes" of red light at stuff.

They, and the game, were not particularly good, but that's my first recollection of Lasguns in a video game.

Yeah, this was the original issue. Though I am hoping this is just due to the early alpha gameplay and they used the 'projectile effect' as a placeholder until they got the lasbeam one done and added in.

In regards to the trailer, it looks alright? Maybe I'm just jaded from quite a few games being not great at launch but this isn't 'wow' ing me like DoW and DoW2 did, just seems a little... soft? for lack of a better term.

Have to see how later trailers and gameplay footage look before making final judgement, but I was kinda in the hopes that Relic would keep it and basically make it similar to CoH2/3 but 40k which would have been great.

Leaving Relic behind is the best thing that could've happened. They've been making steadily worse games year over year.

It looks more brutal than ever. Multiple instances of what looks like instant full squad kills. Very excited.
