No chaos at the start feels a bit weird but it has happened in the past for these games so not an impossibility.

Some of the sounds during the gameplay section were REALLY bad, so I'm hoping that it's just WIP problem. Otherwise I like the style and I like a more zoomed out camera especially.

I grabbed the DoW1 remaster last night and this looks very stiff in comparison. Not fluid at all, everything gliding around. Very obviously a "different studio is making this" vibe who maybe underestimated the animation fidelity and attention to detail that went into these past games - it takes more than just sync kills.

Good and also surreal to hear Cyrus again. I enjoyed writing for him on the Retribution expansion, constantly begging Diomedes.

Yeah...Not sure about this. Hard to say from what little we've seen but it looks a bit too close to DoW III for my tastes. Also Adeptus Mechanicus, whilst cool to see, seems a bit of an odd choice for a starting faction. Introducing them in a later expansion would have made more sense IMO; having two out of the four "starters" be Imperium doesn't quite work for me.

Also the absence of any non-Primaris Marine units (that I could see) is a sting, and poor Cyrus joining the Emperor's side was rather melancholy. Almost seemed like rubbing salt in the wound a little- "Everything from the pre-Primaris age is dead, you better get used to it".

EDIT: Ninja'd by Lord Marshal. Seems like he might at least last to the end of the game.

The game taking place on Kronus makes me think (hope) that AdMech won't be an allied force for the Blood Ravens but a rival force. From what I remember Dark Crusade (the expansion for DOW I, which takes place on Kronus) has the Blood Ravens fighting against the Imperial Guard to secure some super secret relics. I could see the Ad Mech having a similar attitude towards something on the planet. Hopefully neither side is able to compromise and its a free for all.

If there's an Ork campaign, I'll probably never find out because that's the only one I'll play. I loved the Orks in DOW I so much.

It very much looks like a combination of DOW3 and Iron Harvest,; in the same way Iron Harvest felt like COH but at a superficial level without any of the depth and substance behind the gameplay mechanics, this come across as being the same but with Dawn of War, unfortunately.  Floaty unit behaviour, limited reaction from anything, a single health bar for the whole unit. The combat seems like a downgrade compared to DOW1 let alone DOW2.

Well, that was a quick, now to wait and see if it can stick the landing. Though if it fails we have the DoW re-master to fall back to.

Also Cyrus is being stabbed by a Chronomancer, watch that happen at the start of the game and put a "countdown" on him for a sense of urgency.

I worked on both DoW II and DoW III and this looks a lot more like DoW II to me with scaled up base building. Which is a red flag in itself... DOW2 is very tactical, micro intensive and doesn't scale up well. I fear they're going to arrive at the same thing conclusion we did in the end: probably should have just followed up on a sequel of DoW1 gameplay in the first place.

I'm not feeling the gameplay at all. I know it's not final but something about it doesn't feel right. Things look like they don't feel impactful and the effects look off. I don't like the look of the gameplay, but that's just my personal taste as I prefer the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War 2 formula. I was hoping any future Dawn of War title would be more like Company of Heroes 2. To me this just seems regressive. Also disappointed by how the Space Marines look, they just look like what's available for sale right now without any personal flourishes. Cyrus is just his head on a default out of the box Phobos Captain body.
