Agreed, it is up to people. The last game I pre-ordered when I had faith in the industry was Cyberbug 2077....after that, it's never again for me.

I expected issues from CDPR because every game they had released prior to Cyberpunk was a mess at launch. Also, access to the game prior to launch was extremely limited. Like I outlined in my previous post - that woudn't pass my sniff test for a pre-order. Objective, plentiful and easily available information should be there for us to make an educated decision.

But other games like FF7 Rebirth, BG3, Expedition 33, Armored Core 6, Space Marine 2, Tekken 8, etc etc etc have all been great from day 1.

In the case of Dawn of War 4, this game has already been available for certain influencers and gaming critics to sample for some time. Angry Joe, in a recent video, has admitted that he knew of this game and had been part of a trial and has played it. He will be sharing footage and more opinions soon, but he enjoys the game.

If the dev is allowing access to the game to 3rd parties months before release, and their opinions are positive, then that fills me with confidence.

The lore will never be redeemed

This is how I feel about Star Wars.

You know what I did? I stopped watching, I checked out. I don't want to torture myself, spending time and money on something that doesn't make me happy, or that I dislike.

Not sure I get the reference, but yes, it's Primaris only going forward. Visually it's fine.

Do they even sell normal tactical...

He's suggesting we lost the war years ago and need to give up, I guess? (As opposed to the cooler idea of us waging guerilla warfare against Pr*maris in the jungles of, uh, Nottingham armed with a rusty katana and faith in the Emperor...) Which seems very defeatist to me.

See I don't care about Star Wars, but if I did? I'd make sure the company knew. I'd make it known at every opportunity why their newer stuff is garbage, and make sure more people saw the light and eventually stopped liking it themselves. Over time the property would become known as "that once-great sci-fi juggernaut that alienated its fanbase and lit itself on fire rather than course-correct out of sheer arrogance" and decline into ignominy and borderline retail poison. Then we'd say "we told you so" with the most unbearable smirk on our faces and laugh our way home, leaving the people managing the smoldering wreck seething with impotent rage as they try to put together the unsalvageable remains of their media empire.

Oh wait, that actually happened. And I didn't even have to do anything!

Point being, never underestimate the power of angry nerds. Especially ones that used to be your customers.

I think its a misrepresentation or misunderstanding of my position. I've said for a long long time, its Primaris only going forward.

The rescale of the Space Marine line isnt the problem. The lore will never change but its not as if we are going to have a game (DoW/Total War) that is steeped in the Cawl/Primaris abomination of lore.

So whatever, this is the new Space Marine.

The grav tanks being hideous is the only real problem with the model line, the rules are still in beta, but hey 11th is right around the corner.

The difference is, Primaris was polarising, rather than unanimously hated. And even many people that "hate" primaris, only hate the lore, not the models. It's not the same thing at all. Though I get the general point you're trying to make.

Anyway, they've mostly backtracked the primaris lore anyway into the realms of handwaving it as a thing that happened but not any kind of focus. Which seems to have satisfied a sizeable chunk of the above. Then you have the fact strides have been made to get a middle ground on the armour front and it's all pretty good now tbh

Exactly, and my initial point.

Fix the tank situation, and its 'fine' at this point across the board at the table top level.

I love the Gladiators and Repulsors. And they look excellent on the tabletop.

The Repulsors Executioner in particular is one of my favourite Astartes Tanks.

There's nothing to fix.

My Top 5 Astartes Tanks in terms of looks:

Kratos

Spartan

Sicaran

Repulsor

Gladiator

I despise both, and think they are hideous downgrades in appearance, to the point where if the Rhino and Land Raider were open to Primaris (assume that restriction still exists in the current beta rules release) I would bet on a spike in Primaris sales.

/shrug

I started to soften on one of the hover tanks- not sure which one, but its name ended in -OR. I still would rather have any treaded tank than it, but I thought if GW did the unthinkable and got rid of treads, this the tank I'd be most likely to talk myself into buying.

The  backstory this is that when I was a kid, I loved Voltron- the Lions were cool, the big robot was cool... What's not to love? Then they did a Voltron reboot, where the component vehicles weren't awesome lions, but instead, mostly stupid hover boxes. I've hated hover boxes ever since, even when they are merely mediocre rather than truly stupid.

The fixed-door drop pods taught me something though: I don't need to worry about GW cutting Land Raider and Rhino kits out of 40k because Heresy will keep the good models alive. It's weird for me to be saying good things about Heresy, because without Xenos, it's pretty much a waste of a game in my opinion. But if it preserves cool drop pods, and occasionally gives us cool stuff like a plastic Arvus and Spartan, I guess it has some silver linings.

Now if only GW had 40k data cards for all the awesome Heresy era Admech robots!

The Landraider can transport Primaris

The only issues I have with the hover tanks is that there's too many weapons on the larger ones and the smaller ones have overly-simple looking sponsons and I don't like the large protruding air intakes at the back of the vehicles. Let's be honest, the Rhino chassis and the Land Raider chassis are both a bit ugly and uninteresting, it's mainly nostalgia and them being "iconic" that makes people fond of them. They are boxes with tracks, not exactly the most interesting designs in the setting by a long shot.

Personally I wouldn't mind what vehicles the space marines use in DoW 4 anyway, the other three faction's tanks are more than just armoured boxes, so they are immediately more appealing to me personally.

How dare you sir.

Boxes with tracks is exactly what they need to be.
