Cool!

Unfortunately the Defender has no transport capacity so those Yaegirs are all walking. I'm doing carrier first, but possibly a brace of defenders this winter.

Otherwise seems perfectly reasonable, though it's a shade character heavy perhaps... Dropping E-Champ or Buri or Brok might get you an extra unit on the line and it does feel like another Jacks or thunderkyn may be more reliable.

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

I forgot to put the kapricus Carrier as well. I still have points for it.

You're right about dropping a character for another squad... Thought crossed my mind!!   Probably the Echamp... But damn I really like the model.

Played a game against custodes... so I need to change some stuff. also saw a podcast with Tim Schaeffer and he pretty much know his stuff.

Buri is out. Against Custodes he got charged, died and never resurrected.

ShootyJacks were pretty cool so they stay

Melee jacks, need more of those!  They did pretty good as counter charge.

2x3 bikes is too much. 1x3 should be enough to screen in the back and then turn 4/5 go for the opponents backfield.

Hekatons: pretty good with Magna rail. they dispatched  2 Calduis grav tanks as soon as they peaked, with help from  reserve thunderkin, stripping cover.

Sagi and warriors... not bad, not great. can't complain.

Kapri defender.. didn't do much. That railgun shot doesn't amount to much

after 3 turn I had board control. His units were fast but shooting from custodes was not so effective and the custodes where charging the screen so trades were in my favour.

So basically v2:

Uthar (0CP strats!!! love it)

Memnyr - this time goes with shooty jacks as reserves.

Brokhyr Iron Master - teams with 6man Tkyn

E-Champ

Hearthkyn warriors - bodyguard for Uthar. Backfield screen.

Yaegirs- 5 on Kapricus, 5 infiltrate

Kapricus Carrier

5x hearthguard - plasmas - deepstrike with Echamp.

2x3 Tkyn - Gravs - 1 squad in board, 1 in reserve.

6x Tkyn - ride Heka with Iron Master

6 melee Jacks - ride heka

6 shooty Jacks and memnyr (for free overwatch) - reserve - go for side objectives in no man's

3x bikes - backfield screen

Kapricus defender  -rotary cannon.  supports.

2x Hekatons - Magnarail.

I think I have a good balance.

Heathguard are in to make opponent commit to guarding his backfield thus having less resources to attack. If they don't 10 plasma shots with possible sustain 2 or some reolls can wreck some havok...

Lets' se

Nice one!

Just a thought on transport tasking - why not 3 Thunderkyn + 3 Steeljacks in each? To my way of thinking the big reinforced units are okay to just walk off the line and threaten centre while Hekatons go play shell games on flanks... Then each Heka has a dedicated ignore cover opportunity and a skirmish melee threat to keep enemy at arm's length for a turn or two. The chonky units are flashy coming out of a Heka, but I can't help feeling like the flex of having 2 units in each will make objective plays easier and safer.

I'd think of the Defender as essentially a rear screen piece at this point. Shots of opportunity are fine and you might even pick up the odd action monkey unit with the rotary cannon. I do see that the magna is disappointing... Rear screen is not a glorious task, but it can still save alot of points over a game. I'll probably still get one just cuz it is pretty dang cool and then I'll have 5 vehicles in my list, all different minis (Kharadron frigate as Hekaton #2, and a gunhauler as defender so the one I buy will actually serve as carrier)

Cheers,

The Good Doctor.

The idea of having buddy units riding together is appealing.. Definitely will try that one out.

Right now I have big blocks so any stratagem (like sus 2) can have a larger effect because of sheer numbers.

Still have to test this list a couple of times but I like the idea of having hekaton being used as a public transportation for several small units.
