GW really dropped the ball with this, they actually had factions playing the way most thought they should.  So instead of making the other codex better and in line with that, they raise points.  Also not a good marketing strategy, raise the points so people need less units/models.  I guess they could just raise the cost by 4% or so to make up for it.

And we dont need more minis on the board than we already have. The tables are already bloated enough with minis!

I have twice tried to order the Lord of Poxes, the first time he was out of stock by the time I could order and the second time they canceled my order cuz he went out of stock after I had ordered.  Now because they have increased the points cost of units he is clearly a unit I would drop from my list.  Then they announce they are increasing the monetary cost of units, so I will probably never buy one from them.  It would appear that makes a group of people happy as we should be playing with less models, not more.  Another group is OK with this because we shouldn’t expect GW to do the hard thing and make balanced factions.

This is not a good business model and their investors should be furious.  As a customer I’ve learned how to enjoy the hobby while spending the bare minimum knowing how they approach it.

Nothing about the way Knights and DG are played has changed as of yet.

There may be some additional changes in the next week or so when the slate drops, but all that's happened so far is that a few models got higher points. Which was absolutely needed, both for my Knights, and for Death Guard.

Both armies were able to put way too much high value stuff on a table.

Looking at tournament results from the last week, there seems to have been a slight change. Plenty of Knights lists still on the top tables. On average they have dropped and Armiger/Wardog or downgraded a big Knight to a small one. Triple Atropos seems to have disappeared although the odd single Atropos can still be spotted so I think the bigger hike on the this model was warranted.

This has toned down the S-tier armies a bit and we are seeing more of the A-tier armies getting to the top. Blood Angels (both LAG and AI) seem to be doing well with DAs, UMs and SWs just behind. GSCs are also looking strong. Deathguard are still performing well.

This is only 1 week of data but it looks like GW got it about right. Knights and DG are still good armies but cannot put quite as many strong units on the table now which makes them a bit more manageable. The other armies that are doing well are those that can punch up into tough targets without compromising on trading efficiency. This is why Marines are doing well. They have a big toolbox of units and several Detachments aid that punching up. LAG means even cheap Jump Assault Intercessors are dealing MWs on the charge and wounding even big Knights on a 5+ which is good for a sub-100 point unit. Wolves have the Beastslayer Detachment which grants army-wide Lethal Hits against Monsters and Vehicles while Dark Angels are making good use of the new Fury of the Rock detachment which has a really good toolbox of rules.

The Meta is looking a lot healthier than it was a couple of weeks ago. The challenge now is to lift up some of the underperforming armies that are sitting below the 50% win-rate. Deathwatch is looking particularly unhealthy, in spite of their new Detachment.
