GSCUprising
As someone who enjoys painting his models with a really heavy, gritty look, I can really appreciate what you're doing here. In particular, thanks for inspiring me to up my basing game. Looking forward to seeing more. The Pounder
@GSCUprising, thanks very much for the compliment, I thought your basing was already good! Cheers @Firedrake Cordova! Thanks @Tallarn Commander, I have used a muted palette in most of my projects, I’m considering doing a Ork Kult of Speed to mix things up a bit! Thanks @W.A.Rorie! I’m nearly halfway through my last Infantry Squad, pics to come! Thank you guys for the interest! The Pounder
This is my final Infantry Squad for the Krieg! I’ve really enjoyed this project and I’m happy with the paint job. GSCUprising
Going to start tinkering with some different basing techniques, thanks to your inspiration. I did well with my Atalan Jackals, but need to broaden my horizons. I'd love to unleash my lads and lassies on your forces. What a battle would be had! Firedrake Cordova
Your painting style is definitely in keeping with- and sympathetic to the imagery of the Death Korps GSCUprising, Gnasher and The Pounder 2 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/386548-the-pounder%E2%80%99s-40k-and-hh-project-log/page/2/#findComment-6138711 Share on other sites
Endtransmission
I've got to agree with Firedrake here, they look suitably DKoK, nicely done! The Pounder
Thanks @GSCUprising would’ve been quite the spectacle! Sadly I’m selling my Krieg won’t be possible but thanks you. @Firedrake Cordova, cheers man, I have a very scruffy style of painting so I feel it leans in well to the weathering! Thanks very much @Endtransmission! Next on the painting table I’ll have some Dark Angels! Bonehead
Superb work as ever, which probably goes without saying by now. One question: does the heavy weapon set now just come with one guy per gun? The Pounder
Yes they come with one Korpsman per gun plus a spotter for the unit! (He gives them the ability to shoot on death) Cheers for the compliment! I’ve been sucked into Blood Bowl atm so my next 40K update may be a while. The Pounder
So life has been in the way of hobby for a little while now. I finally got going on my Ultramarines again! This update is my rendition of Captain Mikael Fabian! The description of him in the books are that he had lost an eye and left arm so has bionics. I sourced loads of parts and raided my bitz box to bring him to life! I saw on YouTube that Vallejo was producing some new “True Metallic Metal” paints so I thought this time I’d use them. Really happy with the results: Captain Fabian 3rd Company Ultramarines Captain Fabian 3rd Company Ultramarines Captain Fabian 3rd Company Ultramarines Captain Fabian 3rd Company Ultramarines Captain Fabian 3rd Company Ultramarines Not sure what’s next, hopefully things will calm down a bit! Brother Christopher
1 hour ago, The Pounder said: So life has been in the way of hobby for a little while now. That's the worst, isn't it? But being in the hobby for a long time means that this will happen. I let the opposite happen: I let the hobby get in the way of life and now have to suffer the consequences. Good luck with whatever life brings, both hobby- and otherwise. The model looks great. I like the edge highlights, the (what appears to be) metallic finish of the shoulder pads' trim and the general feel. The choice of bits is also great: While I'm not familiar with the character, he looks like an UM commander should. The Pounder
I hear you @Brother Christopher. It’s definitely a tightrope keeping the balance between life and fun. Thanks for the compliment and best wishes I hope things go well for you too. I’ve decided to paint a Jump Captain next! Such a good sculpt! And I'm glad you like him. I find all Primaris Jump Infantry a bit awkward but the 'old' Primaris Jump Captain is by far the best of the bunch (the new one, with a storm shield, is okayish too). I'm curious where you'll land with him. EDIT: Are you planning to modify the mini or you'll go with the vanilla kit this time? The Pounder
Thanks @Brother Christopher! I’m using the one with the Relic Shield and Thunderhammer. Just a head swap this time! Cheers @W.A.Rorie! I used the bionic arm from the Lieutenant kit, I removed the hand and used a Gladius from Archie’s Forge! Thanks @Vairocanum! Hopefully not too long before I get a chance to do some painting, looking forward to doing another update! @GSCUprising, I’m really trying to work on my neatness so I’m happy you like what I’m doing. The Pounder
Thanks so much @space wolf! I too love the Roman edge to Ultramarines, it’s why I’ve restarted this project!
