Evil Eye
Longbeards (and friends of them) may remember the old Sabertooth Games trading cards for 40K and The Horus Heresy, long before the actual HH game officially debuted. These had some really, really nice artwork for them from a variety of artists, including some rather spiffy Dreadnoughts (clearly Contemptors, albeit not quite the same as the modern design). Here's one such example by Wayne England (may he rest in peace). Anyway, there's actually quite a few pieces following this same basic design but nobody seems to have uploaded them all in an easily browsed location. Can anyone help satiate my minor obsession I've developed for this "proto-Contemptor"? derLumpi
Not sure this helps much. But 'Horus Heresy Collected Visions' has all those great pictures in it. It's pricey but it is worth every penny/cent. Solution Brother Tyler Posted August 20 Solution Share Posted August 20 You can see some of the cards at the game's Board Game Geek page (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/8863/horus-heresy-2003). The only two images that show dreadnoughts there (as far as I can see) are this one (Kargul) and this one (it's very fuzzy, but it looks like the Justarius dreadnought of the Ultramarines Legion). You can also see scans of (all?) the cards at the Horus Heresy Collectable [sic] Card Game Online Deck Builder (https://www.pa-sy.com/hhccg/). God, seeing these all in the original card format on the deck builder is giving me incredible nostalgia chills. Amazing. Pacific81
I've been downloading and cropping/tidying up some of the scans from the link above. For the most part the scans are good quality, but bless the person that did it, they must have run out of energy towards the end as some of the later ones in books 3 and 4 have a lot of curves where the page wasn't flat. So in some cases I've had to crop the scans closer where they are too distorted and it ruins the image. Frustratingly, I can't see any info on this ever being an official PDF with very high quality scans, so these will have to do for now. I am archiving some of the scans as I am looking through the book for inspiration for my modelling projects. I am sure you will agree this artwork is too impressive to let it disappear entirely, and short of getting hold of the physical book 2nd hand (now going for £200+ !) playing the Legions mobile game, or unless you are fortunate enough to have the original TCG, it is not available from any other sources. These are a few of the Dreadnought ones I have done so far, with more to come.
