Cheers from Ukraine, everyone!

I'm a newbie to the hobby (less than a year), so I'm not into gaming or painting yet. However, I'm very much into reading and exploring the lore. I love reading series like the Horus Heresy and the Dark Imperium simultaneously, as it allows to see how it was, what went wrong, how it ended up, and why.

At some point, I’ve had enough of the usual “Horus/daddy issues”, “Guilliman/Excel spreadsheets”, or “Commissar Cain the coward” memes and chats (which don’t really capture the depth of the characters), and started looking for a place where people appreciate the versatility and multi-layeredness of the Warhammer universe, and have meaningful and detailed discussions.
I now have twelve hardback books read, and another seven are on their way from the UK :) Actively looking at some board games as well.

What I know for sure is that when I eventually fall into painting, my first model will be a Necron Overlord — this faction truly fascinates me.
Glad to be a part of the community!

P.S. I've even started working on a fanfic. With no intention of posting it anytime soon, though, since I’ve still got a ton of books to read to keep it lore-consistent - something I’m very conscious about.

Thanks for the warm welcome, fraters!

@Brother Tyler

I’m still exploring Necrons overall. What fascinates me most is their vibe: the immortality, the ancient grandeur... For my first model, I’d love to start with an Overlord, since he feels like the perfect beginning for my shelf. Imotekh looks tempting, though!

Welcome to the B&C! While I don’t frequent the xenos sections often, I’m interested to see the perspective you’ll bring to the discussions on the board.  It’s been a long long long time (~1988) since I got involved with GW games and I often find engaging and listening to newer players helps keep my hobby enthusiasm going.

The necron lords are great models.  There are several people in my gaming group who advocate for starting with characters when painting.  You’ll find good support in the Forge section when you’re ready to begin painting.
